Template:Space-infobox Free-for-All Spaces are spaces appearing in Mario Party 9 and Mario Party: Island Tour. When landed upon, a Free-for-All minigame will be initiated. Normally, the Captain who lands on the space is the one who will get to choose what minigame is to be played.

While the Almost There! event is active, the player in last place is the one to pick what minigame is to be played (two players tied for last place would cause a player to be picked at random). In a rare sight, if all players are tied or if three players tie for last place, the decision goes back to the Captain.

The first place player will win five Mini Stars, and the other places vary with the number of players. However, if a draw is declared (because everyone got last place), no one will gain Mini Stars.

Distribution of Mini Stars
Amount of Players Placing Mini Stars Obtained
Two players First place Five Mini Stars
Second place One Mini Star
Three players First place Five Mini Stars
Second place Two Mini Stars
Third place One Mini Star
Four players First place Five Mini Stars
Second place Three Mini Stars
Third place Two Mini Stars
Fourth place One Mini Star

The space returns in Mario Party: Island Tour, but this time the player who landed on the space will get to choose which minigame to play. In the board Perilous Palace Path, the three winners of this initial minigame will get to choose between three random items. In Rocket Road, the initial winner gets the boosters of the player who landed on the space. If a tie occurs in a minigame for any position, a Dice Block decides.

The space returns in Mario Party 10 (called a Minigame Space), however, instead of being only a free-for-all battle, the player who lands on the space will be able to choose between a four-player minigame, a 2-vs-2 minigame, in which the captain partners with the succeeding player against the rest, or a 1-vs-3 minigame, with the captain facing against the other three players. Unlike Mario Party 9, a draw in a Free-for-All minigame resulted in each player gaining one Mini Star.
