A Koco
A red Koco.

Kocos are clown-faced fishes that are found in the waters of the Northern Kremisphere.

Kocos first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble. They were one of the most common underwater enemies. Kocos bear a resemblance to Cheep-Cheeps of the Mario series. Kocos, like Cheep-Cheeps, come in the colors red and green and swim in a set pattern depending on color. Green Kocos will remain completely still, while the red variety will either swim forward without stopping or will simply swim forward a small amount and turn around. Kocos can only be defeated with aid from Enguarde the Swordfish or Nibbla.

Kocos are also in Donkey Kong Land III. They remain basically the same in this appearance as the previous one. Two Kocos appear on the game's box art.
