This theme is usually hidden and serves as an Easter egg, only able to be heard after meeting certain conditions. It was first included in X for the Game Boy in 1992, and its first appearance in a Super Mario-related title was in Mario Paint, also in 1992. It has since been featured in several other games within and outside the Super Mario franchise, including the Animal Crossing series as K.K. Song.
