Template:Quote2 Sand clouds, also referred to as sand storms[1] or dust clouds,[2] are things that Yoshis are able to create as a form of attack in Super Mario World and its reissue. Any colored Yoshi who holds a Yellow Shell or flashing shell in its mouth is able to cause a small earthquake every time the player lands after a jump, which defeats any enemies who are on the ground nearby. After Yellow Yoshis become available in the game's Star World, the player is able to use a Yellow Yoshi to eat any colored Koopa Shell to attack using sand clouds.
The sand cloud ability lasts as long as the player keeps the Koopa Shell in the Yoshi's mouth, but the Yoshi eventually swallows the shell and loses this power.

If you press when a Red Yoshi has any color Shell in its mouth, it shoots Fireballs rather than spitting out the Shell. Yellow Yoshis holding Shells in their mouths kick up dust clouds when the Yoshis land from a jump. And Blue Yoshis can fly (press ) when they have any Shell in their mouths. The Yoshi also has the usual powers granted by the Shell. For example, a Red Yoshi who eats a Blue Shell can shoot Fireballs and fly."
