Bazzas are long, green barracuda-like fish enemies appearing in both Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. Bazzas live in the holes of the coral reefs, where an indefinite number continuously swims in and out of from one side to the other. In this regard, they are essentially the aquatic equivalent of Swoopies and Lemguins, which are other enemies with similar attack patterns. Dixie or Kiddy Kong must avoid Bazzas, else it bites them. Bazzas can only be defeated by Enguarde, and must usually be avoided. In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, it is shown that Bazzas belong to the "Aquatic Attackers" enemy class.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Bazzas only appear in one level, Bazza's Blockade. In the Game Boy Advance version, they also appear in three Pacifica levels, including Stormy Seas, Sunken Spruce (where they can also use tree trunks and large broken branches as hideouts), and Ripcurl Reef. In Donkey Kong Land III, Bazzas appear in all three coral levels: Seabed Shanty, Coral Quarrel, and Deep Reef Grief.

Trivia

Bazza's early design.

In early screenshots shown in Nintendo Power and even the original SNES back cover of North American and PAL versions, Bazza had a more elongated head like an actual barracuda. It also appeared more bluish, similar to its artwork.
"Bazza" is a recurring name in games by Rare. In addition to the fish, it is also the name of a brand of battery found in Banjo-Tooie and a dung beetle in Conker's Bad Fur Day.
