“Whaddaya think? Hope you like it. After all, you helped build it. All that "field testing" I had you do with my prototype Icon of Proto Mecha King Bob-omb in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope earlier? Wait'll you see how it paid off.”
Kanya, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

The Mecha King Bob-omb is a mech resembling King Bob-omb that appears in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope as the final boss of The Last Spark Hunter DLC. It was created and is piloted by Kanya, and is found in the Melodic Gardens.

Appearance

Being based on King Bob-omb, the Mecha King Bob-omb looks exactly like him, although with Rabbid ears added to it. Bob-ombs are summoned through a small hatch on the back of the mech. Another hatch located beneath the ears and crown can open and close, revealing a cockpit inside, which Kanya pilots.

History

Mecha King Bob-omb in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

After the heroes open the Swamp gate and travel beyond it, they find Allegra sad that her Dorrie friend is imprisoned. Kanya then shows up inside the Mecha King Bob-omb and reveals that the Proto Mecha King Bob-omb was used for field testing, as to allow Kanya to perfect the design of the Mecha King Bob-omb based on watching the heroes battle the prototype.

The heroes must then free the Dorrie while trying to escape from the Mecha King Bob-omb, with Kanya controlling via cockpit. It has the ability to throw bombs at the heroes and can summon three Bob-ombs at once. The Mecha King Bob-omb is also protected by an indestructible barrier, making it immune to all damage. While moving, the mech has the ability to jump in the air and cause a shockwave upon landing, similar to that of a Squashette. On the paths to the Dorrie are switched covered by Darkmess, which can only be removed by Bob-omb explosions. These switches cause new land to emerge from the water, allowing the heroes to continue. After the heroes free the Dorrie, it and Allegra work together for the next part of the battle.

In the second half of the battle, the heroes must activate more Darkmess-covered switches to unveil the sound amplification antenna, which will allow Allegra and the Dorrie to use it to remove the shield around the Mecha King Bob-omb. Some of Mecha King Bob-omb's attack have changed in this phase: it summons four Bob-ombs at once, and its movement is now a spinning attack that damages and pushes heroes it spins into, potentially knocking them out of bounds. The heroes then defeat the Mecha King Bob-omb, causing it to malfunction and spring upwards into space with Kanya still inside, defeating them both for good.

MECHA KING BOB-OMB

The final version of the Mecha King Bob-omb, Kanya improved on the prototype by studying our abilities, techniques, and tactics. The end result was impressive - - terrifying even. One thing Kanya could not replicate, however, was the Heroes' teamwork, born of their love and sense of duty to one another, Kanya desired an entire army of Mecha King Bob-ombs. No easy task, yet their destructive power is nearly unparalleled.
