The Mini Toads are Toad toys produced and sold by the Mario Toy Company. They first appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis and make return appearances in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, and Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move.
History
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
The success of the Mario Toy Company's earlier toys, the Mini Marios, was so great that it allowed them to expand to sell other mini toys, including Mini Peach, and Mini Donkey Kong toys as well.
Mini Toads are playable characters in this game as well, but Special Kit 1 (which is unlocked by completing 3 minigames) has to be unlocked first in order to use them. If a Mini Toad comes in contact with a Fire Flower, it will become a Fire Mini Toad.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!
Mini Toads appear again in the third installment Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!. After beating Jungle Rumble's DK level, the Rooftop levels become accessible. Mini Toads are found in the first three levels. After beating them, Mini Toad is unlocked to be used in Construction Mode, where it can be used along with other Minis. It can also be selected to replace Mini Marios in most levels (aside from DK, Key and Rooftop levels) but act the same. Selecting "Minis" will make Mini Toad appear alongside other Minis.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!
The Mini Toads reappear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, where they can be unlocked by submitting a level to the Challenge Mode Contest. Additionally, the Mini Toads are the second type of Minis that the player encounters during gameplay (the first being the Mini Marios). However, a key difference is that the spots on the Mini Toads' heads are shown to be blue instead of red in this game.
Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move
Mini Toads once again appear in Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. In this game, the Mini Toads retain their blue coloration from Mini-Land Mayhem!. The Mini Toad is unlocked as a playable character by unlocking the Many Mini Mayhem mode in the main game. Mini Toad is also unlockable as one of the toys in the Toy Collection, earned by collecting thirty stars.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Wii U)
Template:Newsubject-section Mini Toads are set to reappear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Wii U).
Trivia
- Mini Toads are the only mini toy without legs or a wind-up key.
- They are also the only mini toy to not look exactly like their actual counterpart, as Mini Toad's skin is not shown on his pants.
