A Propeller Block is a type of block that appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the upcoming Super Mario 3D Land. It has the same function as a Propeller Mushroom; it allows the user to float in the air for a while. To use it, the player must pick it up (shaking the Wii Remote and pressing ) and hold it (by holding down ). Then, the user must shake the Wii Remote anytime in order to fly. This block is found at least once in each world (except for World 1), usually in stages where fog is found and in places where there are things floating or in places beyond the reach of the character.
In Super Mario 3D Land, the Propeller Block is orange and is now known as the Propeller Box. Mario wears it over his body and is able to use it while retaining his powered-up state. The block is lost once the player finishes the level, but is rewarded with an extra life.
