Template:Species-infobox Bitesizes are small piranha-like fish that appear in the underwater levels of Donkey Kong Country. They are green in color with a reddish belly. Although they appear fairly weak, Bitesizes can injure Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, or Enguarde simply by touching the heroes (the same applies to any underwater enemy). The Kongs cannot directly defeat a Bitesize; however, Enguarde and his sword-like bill can easily beat the fish. In underwater levels, Bitesizes do not actively hunt for the heroes. Instead, the fish will either swim in one direction left or right, slightly drifting up and down, or move in an established pattern back and forth (while again drifting up and down). Some Bitesizes swim slowly through the water, while others move at a much faster speed. Bitesizes will either appear alone, in pairs, or in large schools.
Bitesizes appeared in three of the four underwater levels in the game. They first appeared in the tropical waters of Coral Capers in Kongo Jungle, followed by Clam City in Vine Valley. They did not appear in the level Croctopus Chase of Gorilla Glacier. However, they appear at last in Poison Pond, located in Kremkroc Industries Inc.
Bitesizes have the exact same mannerisms as the larger fish of Donkey Kong Island, Chomps Jr. and Chomps. The only difference between the three is their size, with Bitesizes (as their name indicates) being the smallest and Chomps being the largest.
Bitesizes are also somewhat similar to Lockjaws, found in some parts of Donkey Kong Island and neighboring Crocodile Isle, as well as Kocos from the Northern Kremisphere.
In the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country, Bitesizes appeared in several challenges at Funky's Fishing. There, they came in red, blue, green and yellow varieties, whose objective was to catch groups of the same color. There were also flashing Bitesizes, which essentially served as wildcards, and would count as any color.
