Description | Treacherous and lava-filled, this board is Impostor Bowser's domain! Watch your step because there are traps at every turn. |
King Bowser's Keep is an unlockable board that appears in Super Mario Party Jamboree. It is unlocked after reaching Platinum Player Rank (Level 30) or completing the Party-Planner Trek and viewing the credits. It takes place above a giant castle surrounded by lava and features an Impostor Bowser who stands at the center of the board. Impostor Bowser may spit out fireballs onto two random spaces and turn them into Bowser Spaces.[1]
On occasion, if a player lands on a Bowser Space, Impostor Bowser will destroy the roulette and force the player to give up a Star (or all of their coins if they do not have one).
Events
Mechanics
- Impostor Bowser's turn: When it is his turn, Impostor Bowser spits out fireballs onto two random spaces on the Bowser Byway and turn them into Bowser Spaces. Imposter Bowser's turn happens at the start of every third turn. At the start of turn 24, Impostor Bowser announces that he will add one final Bowser Space, and will stop adding new Bowser Spaces after this turn.
Event Spaces
- Direction reversed: Using a Bowser Byway Lever or landing on any of the Event Spaces on the Bowser Byway will cause Impostor Bowser to reverse direction of travel for the Bowser Byway.
- Red pipe: Landing on an Event Space near the red pipe makes a Bob-omb chase the player, forcing the player to jump into the red pipe. The player is then transported to a Red Space near the Bowser Byway. This does not take away any coins from the player, but the player would not receive bonus coins for meeting Dry Bones.
- Launch Bullet Bills!: Landing on either of the two Event Spaces close to the Bill Blasters activates them both, taking away 5 coins from any player they hit.
Passing Spaces
- Green pipe: Going into any green pipe brings the player back to the start, and Dry Bones will give them 10 coins (20 coins if they have a Jamboree Buddy).
- Gear shift: When passing through a gear on Bowser Byway, the player receives the contents on the current side of the gear, which could be 3-10 coins or a Bob-omb, which takes away 5 coins. The gear is rotated clockwise after every visit, and is reset after all contents of the gear have been claimed. If the player has a Jamboree Buddy with them, they also receive the contents of the next clockwise side of the gear.
- VS Mechakoopa: On two different spots on the board, if passing through, the player has to roll a Dice Block to fight against the Mechakoopa. A small Mechakoopa is located on one corner of the Bowser Byway, which has 3 hitpoints and awards 6 coins for a victory or takes away 3 coins for a defeat. A larger Mechakoopa is located on the far end of the board, which has 7 hitpoints and awards 15 coins for a victory or takes away 5 coins for a defeat. If the Mechakoopa is defeated, another one appears in its place with full health, but if it is not, its health stays the same for the next player that visits it.
- Bowser's giant vault: Each time the player passes through it, they have one attempt to enter a two-digit passcode (two attempts if they have a Jamboree Buddy with them), each digit could be from 1 to 9, to open it and receive all Stars and coins that Bowser has stolen from Bowser Space events. The vault has 10 coins at the beginning. If a player successfully opens the vault and claims all of its content, it is locked again with 10 coins filled in.
