Spinies are porcupine enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. They have brown fur and pointed black and white quills. This protects them from both rear and jumping attacks. If Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong attempt either type of attack, they get injured. The Kongs can defeat a Spiny by rolling into its exposed front, throwing an object at it, or by jumping on it with either Rambi or Rattly. Team up can also defeat a Spiny, regardless of its quills. A Klampon sometimes accompanies a Spiny, such as in Castle Crush. Klampons are the opposite of Spiny in that they cannot be defeated from roll attacks, but are vulnerable to jumps.

Derived subjects

A similar enemy, known as Bristles, appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.
