Winky the Frog is an Animal Buddy from the original Donkey Kong Country. Since he is a frog, Winky can jump extremely high. He can also defeat enemies that Donkey and Diddy Kong cannot defeat by themselves. Additionally, Winky is one of Cranky Kong's favorite Animal Buddies along with Expresso. However, Winky is only playable in one game: the least number of playable appearances of all the Animal Buddies. In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, a Winky figurine can be seen in Cranky Kong’s Monkey Museum. Winky has very similar abilities to another animal buddy, Rattly as Rattly possibly replaced him in Donkey Kong Country 2. Cranky Kong references him in the Donkey Kong 64 instruction booklet.
In the Club Nintendo comic "Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24", Cranky and Kiddy Kong are briefly seen riding Winky to an airport.
