The minigame takes place on a large, metal carousel. It rotates counter-clockwise during the course of the minigame. On the carousel, a small section is occupied by players, with sets of [[Amp]]s on both sides eliminating any player who touches them. Alongside the ride's rotation pushing players towards the Amps, the ride contains a variety of obstacles which must be avoided in order to survive. These include castle walls which horizontally cover part of the ride, and sets of three towers which block parts of the center. Additionally, mechanical [[Chain Chomp]]s appear which start at the top and eventually lunge towards the bottom of the ride, alongside mechanical [[Boo]]s which move up or down, either in a wave or separately, which cover the entire horizontal section of the ride and must be [[jump]]ed over in order to pass. Like with other minigames with a jumping ability, jumping on other players stuns them temporarily and can be used to reach greater heights. As the game progresses, the rotational speed of the carousel increases. The last surviving player, the last players to be eliminated in instances of simultaneous knock out, or the players that survived until the time limit's end, win. In the game's Endless variant, there is no time limit, as the objective is simply to survive as long as possible. Achieving a record of 50 or more seconds in Endless mode is required to unlock the "Eternal Runner" achievement. Like with other Endless minigames, the maximum recorded time is 9:59:99.

Scare-ousel is a 4-Player minigame found in Super Mario Party Jamboree. Its name is a portmanteau of "scare" and "carousel," a popular amusement park ride. Alongside its regular 4-Player variant, this minigame has an Endless variant that can be played in the Free Play mode in Minigame Bay, in which high scores can be recorded and compared with other players online.

Introduction[edit]

A large carousel at night is shown, before the camera zooms towards the player characters.

Gameplay[edit]

The minigame takes place on a large metal carousel. It rotates counterclockwise during the course of the minigame. On the carousel, a small section is occupied by players, with sets of Amps on both sides eliminating any player who touches them. Alongside the ride's rotation pushing players towards the Amps, the ride contains a variety of obstacles that must be avoided in order to survive. These include castle walls that horizontally cover part of the ride as well as sets of three towers that block parts of the center. Additionally, mechanical Chain Chomps appear, starting at the top and eventually lunging towards the bottom of the ride, alongside mechanical Boos that move up and down either in a wave or separately, covering the entire horizontal section of the ride, and must be jumped over in order to pass. Jumping on other players stuns them temporarily and can be used to reach greater heights. As the minigame progresses, the rotational speed of the carousel increases. The last surviving player, or the players that survive until the time limit's end, wins. If the remaining players are eliminated simultaneously, those players win. In the minigame's Endless variant, there is no time limit, as the objective is simply to survive as long as possible. Achieving a record of 50 or more seconds in the Endless mode is required to unlock the "Eternal Runner" achievement. Like with other Endless minigames, the maximum recorded time is 9:59:99.

In Minigame Bay, Scare-ousel is the third minigame in the "A Bit Dodgy" Daily Challenge set and the second minigame in the "Theme Park Larks" set.
