Lockjaw, the piranha-like underwater enemy from the game, Donkey Kong Land 2.

Lockjaws are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, behaving identically between both games. When Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong approach a Lockjaw, it clamps its jaws and then lunges at the lead Kong in an attempt to bite them. Lockjaws can only be defeated by Enguarde by stabbing them. The Lockjaws in the later levels often move faster than in earlier levels.

There is promotional artwork of Lockjaw trailing after Diddy and Dixie in a wrecked ship setting, which was reused for Donkey Kong Land 2 as the key artwork.

DK series[edit]

Lockjaws are enemies in DK: King of Swing and DK: Jungle Climber, behaving similarly in both games. Lockjaws attempt to charge at Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong and bite them, and can be defeated from a charged attack.

Lockjaws are encountered primarily within the Aqua World in DK: King of Swing. They first appear in the level Risky Reef and return in Lockjaw Falls, the latter featuring them jumping out from the waterfalls in an attempt to hit Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast[edit]

Lockjaws are obstacles in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. They appear in DK Jungle Falls and DK Jungle Sunset only. Here they attack players by jumping out of the water and attempt to bite them. There are also electrified variants of Lockjaws. Both of them can be defeated in one hit, though the electrified Lockjaw will also significantly slow down a player unless that player was invincible.
