Spiked Barrels are obstacles debuting in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and also appear in its remake. True to their name, they are barrels rolling sideways with spikes embedded all over, which also means they cannot be defended from using a Handstand. Spiked Barrels are thrown by Donkey Kong in some of his boss battles, with their behavior being no different from standard Barrels. They appear in vs. Donkey Kong in both versions, in addition to appearing in the boss battles for Merry Mini-Land, Slippery Summit and their Plus variants in the remake.
