Rabbit Ridge Tower is a location in the Dark Side in Super Mario Odyssey. It is the only defined location in this level, the only other area being a colorless Peronza Plaza place inhabited by rabbits. Mario can travel to the tower with a spark pylon., which takes him over a wide pit.
The tower is tall, wide, and grey. According to the Dark Side brochure, it is carved at the direction of Madame Broode, who loves vegetables and reigns over Rabbit Ridge. Despite this, she is not found or fought here. For the objective Arrival at Rabbit Ridge!, the Broodals are fought consecutively, serving as a gauntlet. Each Broodal is dueled in one of the four floors. Each floor is large enough for the Broodals' airship to comfortably circle a circular platform, which is attached to the entrance by the path leading into the floor. The exit leading higher into the tower is initially inaccessible. However, when a Broodal is defeated a second path rises out of the pool of poison below the prior path and platform. This second path has a raised rock compared to the rest of the floor, enabling Mario to reach the exit. Topper fights on the First Floor, Hariet on the Second Floor, Spewart on the Third Floor, and Rango on the Fourth Floor. These battles are reminiscent but not identical to each of the Broodals' second battles throughout the game. The low gravity from the Moon applies even inside Rabbit Ridge Tower, complicating the bouts.
Before entering the first floor, between each of the later floors, and after the fourth floor, there are sections within the walls of the tower but considered to be part of the main map of the Dark Side. They wind upward and counterclockwise, leading to a entrance into the interior for each boss battle. The last of these transition areas has one Heart.
The spark pylon in the other area takes Mario to the first floor. After the fourth floor, there is a Warp Pipe that leads to the roof. To the right of the pipe, Captain Toad is present in a hidden alcove. If Mario talks to him, he gives Mario the "Captain Toad on the Dark Side!" Power Moon.
The Warp Pipe is a one way passage to the roof, which is a flat surface on top of the "leaves" of the tower. Here, the Broodals attack one last time with RoboBrood. While it no longer drops Pokio, Hammer Bros appear in the arena. Combined with the low gravity still affecting the Moon's surface, the machine can still be defeated. Defeating RoboBrood earns Mario a Multi Moon, completing Arrival at Rabbit Ridge!
Rabbit Ridge Tower is a special exception to normal Super Mario Odyssey checkpoint rules. Namely, the only valid checkpoint is at the spark pylon(s) outside the tower, not any of the transitions between the outer inside sections and the floors. This means that all five boss battles must be completed in a row, with the Heart between Rango and Robobrood as the only reprieve unless the player uses amiibo.
Unlike other bosses that are part of objectives, the Broodals stay at Rabbit Ridge Tower for rematches after Arrival at Rabbit Ridge is completed. The Broodals stay defeated until Mario either leaves the kingdom or dies; collecting the Multi Moon does not make them respawn. The Multi Moon from Arrival at Rabbit Ridge! can be recollected. A pole leading to a second spark pylon is additionally present in the outdoors portion of the Dark Side. This spark pylon is linked to a second pylon on the final exterior section of Rabbit Ridge Tower, entering through an opening that appeared after the objective. This allows Mario to skip to fighting Robobrood, easily meet Captain Toad, and/or battle the Broodals in reverse order by moving down the tower. The paths from the boss battles to the outer sections stay raised up, likely because of how Mario can proceed backward in the tower in this state.
