Greater location | Snow Kingdom |
Snowline Circuit is a location in the Snow Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. It is the key location of the objective The Bound Bowl Grand Prix. It is accessed via a chute in Shiveria Town, although the chute is initially blocked off by barriers. In order to remove them, Mario has to collect specific Power Moons from various locations during the prior objective: The Cake Thief's Parting Gift. When Mario drops down the chute, he lands on a steep icy slope that deposits him in a small circular raised area. There is an arch with a logo for the Snowline Circuit at the top. Dropping down from this area leads to the main part of Snowline Circuit, a wide circular space with packed up snow as small hills. The Shiverian Elder is present, and there is a podium for the racers. The back wall is made of glass, allowing the player to see the Snowline Circuit's racecourse beyond it. The track cannot be accessed outside of the minigame Bound Bowl Grand Prix, which depicts a race. Entering this minigame can only be done by talking to the Shiverian Elder while Capturing the Shiverian Racer. If Mario heads to the left side of the near wall, there is a one way Warp Pipe that empties out in front of the chute in Shiveria Town.
The racetrack is shaped like an oval overall, with some minor differences in the positions of ramps and turns. The center of the oval is a pit into the water, with the table for the Frost-Frosted Cake sticking out of it. Shiverians watch races up close from the cliffs making up the turns and on nearby islands.
In The Bound Bowl Grand Prix, the Shiverian Elder states they need an additional racer before they can resume. West of the central room leads to the changing room where the Shiverian Racer refuses to participate. Mario must capture him, bring him back to the circuit, speak to the elder, and win the race. The elder rewards him with a Multi Moon, which is placed above the podium. Afterward, the Shiverian Racer remains in the hub room.
A piece of Hint Art in the Dark Side depicts the symbol displayed at the top of the arch in this area. If Mario returns here and ground-pounds the top of the arch, he receives a Power Moon.
Layout[edit]
From the starting line, there are two small wooden ramps followed by a 90 degree turn against a cliff. The path bends a little before another turn against a cliff, bringing the course to the other straightaway. This straight starts with steep slopes of snow winding forward, with a patch of packed snow in the center of the road to avoid. When the path flattens out and the packed snow goes away, there is an "S" curve before the next banked turn at a cliff. Between that turn and the next turn there is a small wooden ramp. After the final turn there are two ramps of snow: one is medium and the other is large. Past them the starting line awaits.
