Whomp-a-thon is a 4-Player and Duel minigame in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the word "marathon." This is the sixth minigame in Score Scuffle.

Introduction[edit]

A Whomp shakes just before it falls. The characters jump out of the way before running to their starting positions as the camera pans out to show the whole sandpit, revealing three more Whomps on the east, west, and south borders.

Gameplay[edit]

The Whomps randomly move along the side they are on and fall down, attempting to smash the players into the ground. One can tell if a Whomp is going to fall, because it starts to shake when about to fall. When some time has passed, more than one Whomp makes the notion that it is going to fall, and the first one to shake falls. However, if they start shaking at the same time, any one of them randomly falls. When a player is smashed by a Whomp, they leave a hole shaped like their character in the sand blocking the other player's way. The last player standing, or those still standing when the timer ends, wins the minigame. In Score Shuffle, however, the minigame ends when the 30-second timer runs out, or when all players are smashed into the ground. Any players that survived longer earn more points, with one point being given every three centiseconds.

Ending[edit]

Any player left is seen in the sandpit, doing their victory dance. If any players did not manage to win, the spot where their shape was will be as if they never got hit there.
