Karbines are the main obstacles in the level "Fire-Ball Frenzy" in the area Mekanos, this is also the only level they are found in. Karbines do not attack Dixie or Kiddy Kong directly, instead they rely on large cannons they carry which shoot large fireballs at the Kongs. Karbines can not be defeated in any way, they can only be avoided.
In the Game Boy Advance version, some Karbines have shorter intervals between shooting fireballs, which means that the Kongs have less time to avoid their fireballs.

In the Game Boy Advance remake, some of the attacks of Karbines are made more difficult, such as the place where 3 kurbines shoot at least a tenth of a second after the first, has been harder and less time was added to escape.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

Fire-Ball Frenzy
The Kongs moving across a horizontal rope and avoiding the Karbines' fireballs in the Game Boy Advance version

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Karbines only appear in Fire-Ball Frenzy, where they are the main obstacle. Karbines only appear in the background where they shoot fireballs at Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong. Some Karbines follow the Kongs while shooting, but stop following them after a certain point. After shooting a fireball, Karbine pauses for a few seconds before firing out the next one. Karbines cannot be defeated. Karbines often appear together in small groups, firing in succession from right to left rhythmically. Sometimes, in groups of threes, the first and third Karbines fire simultaneously, followed by the middle one. Some Karbines shoot out three fireballs in a row before pausing. There are four Karbines that appear just before Fire-Ball Frenzy's Level Flag. After a while, the Karbine stops following Dixie and Kiddy. In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a photograph of a Karbine appears under the Flying Fiends category.

In the Game Boy Advance version, some Karbines have shorter intervals between shooting fireballs, which means that the Kongs have less time to avoid their fireballs.

Donkey Kong Land III[edit]

It has been requested that this section be rewritten and expanded to include more information. Reason: include information on fireball patterns in Donkey Kong Land III

In Donkey Kong Land III, Karbine appear in four levels: Karbine Kaos, Bazuka Bombard, Kuchuka Karnage, and Barrel Boulevard. Karbine's name is featured in their first level appearance, Karbine Kaos, where Squitter also appears. Squitter is shown to be invulnerable to Karbine's fireballs as long as he remains on the ground.

Karbine's fireballs share the same sprite as Bleak's snowballs in Donkey Kong Land III. In the Game Boy Color port, this includes the color palette, as both have a faint purple color.
