Study Fall is a 4-Player and Duel minigame that is found in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on "study hall," which is where students can go to study after classes end. This is the fourth minigame in Score Scuffle.

Introduction[edit]

In the scene, the camera shows the red line above the two erasers. The player hears some applause as the camera moves up, showing various math lessons and problems shown on the board from the bottom to the top of the two chalkboards. The players are then being applauded for a short moment, equipped with magnets on their backs. After that, the minigame starts.

Gameplay[edit]

In this minigame, which plays like the game of chicken, the players attempt to jump off the ledge of the first chalkboard while equipped with magnets. The players have to get as close to the red line as possible before they hit the erasers. If players are close to it, they have to halt themselves by using the magnets they are holding. Any player who stops closest to the red line without hitting the erasers is the winner. If a player gets too close and gets knocked off by the erasers, that player does not receive a score. If all the players get knocked off by the erasers or if both players get the same score in the Duel variant, the minigame ends in a tie.

As with other minigames with a record system, if both players break the current record in the Duel variant by tying, it counts as a new record even though neither player won, as the screen says "Tie" after the "New Record" fanfare.

The staff record for Study Fall is 1.2 cm/in., but it is possible for players to achieve 0.0 cm/in.

Ending[edit]

The characters are shown at the bottom of the board with their scores being recorded, although the eraser at the bottom is gone. The winner does their victory animation while losers do losing animations. If multiple players get the same score, the minigame can potentially end with more than one winner.
