Call of the Goomba is a 4-Player and Duel minigame from Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the phrase "call of the wild."

Introduction[edit]

The intro tells the player the speed at which the song must be played to lure the Goombas over to their side. The player uses a small organ grinder-like instrument to play the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. at a slow, medium, or fast tempo.

Gameplay[edit]

The player must use Stylus to turn the crank on the organ grinder counterclockwise at the speed shown in the intro to attract giant Goombas to the player's side of the field. If the song is played at the wrong speed, clear notes come out of the music player, but colored notes play if the player has played the song at the correct speed. If the Goombas hear the tune played at the right speed, they start wandering towards the player that is playing at the right speed. There are 50 Goombas. The minigame ends after 30 seconds or when all Goombas on the field have chosen a side. The player that lured the most Goombas to their side wins. If no players had any Goombas or if they have the same number of Goombas in the Duel variant, the minigame ends in a tie.
