Like in any other coin-collecting mini-game in the Mario Party series, the goal of the player is to collect the most coins within the time limit. In this specific game, the player must smash as many Brick Blocks as possible. Pretty much like in a classic Mario game, the coins don't fall out, the player just has to hit the block to obtain the coin.

*Brick Block 2: Unlike the first Brick Block, this one contains a single coin. When hit, it transforms into a Used Block, which contains nothing inside it.
The players perform their victory animations. If a player did not collect a coin, they do their losing animation.
*Brick Block 3: The rarest of all the Brick Blocks, this one can be hit several times, as it contains more than just a coin inside it. When it has no more coins, it turns into a Metal Block containing nothing.

These blocks, though, are not just there for the player to hit. In a side-scroller like engine, there are a total of three rows of Brick Blocks, which move from left to right. The player's character in restricted to only move from left to right, rather than in all directions like in most other mini-games. The rows, though, stop every now and then for a few seconds, which the players can use especially to climber to higher rows of bricks. The players may also step off one side of the screen and appear the other, like in Mario Bros.

Coin Cache is a 4-Player coin-collecting minigame found in Mario Party 5.

Introduction[edit]

The four players exit Peach's Castle in the background and run to the stage itself.

Gameplay[edit]

The goal of this minigame is to collect as many coins as possible by smashing the Brick Blocks that contain them. Three rows of Brick Blocks move from left to right. They can also be used as platforms to reach higher blocks. Brick Blocks that contain nothing are destroyed when hit. Brick Blocks that contain a single coin transform into Empty Blocks when hit. Brick Blocks that contain multiple coins can be hit until they are empty, turning into Empty Blocks. The three rows of blocks stop moving occasionally and start moving in the opposite direction a few seconds later. If players step off one side of the screen, they will appear on the other side in a similar way to the gameplay of Mario Bros. Players can also jump on their opponents to decrease their jump height temporarily. Despite what the rules state, all the players win the minigame as long as they collect at least one coin.

Ending[edit]

The players perform their victory animations. If a player did not collect a coin, they do their losing animation.
