For the opposing side, [[Bowser]] is the King, [[Bowser Jr.]] the Queen, [[Kamek]] or a general [[Magikoopa]] the Bishop, [[Birdo]] the Knight, a [[Goomba]] the Rook, and [[Koopa]] [[Shell]]s as Pawns. Super Mario Chess: Collector's Edition is a chess set themed to the Super Mario franchise. The set was released by USAopoly in September 2009.[citation needed] The rules of the game are the same as defined by the original game, with one side being white (heroes) and the other being black (villains).
