Players try to lure the most Goombas over to their side, which is done by steadily turning the crank. The notes appear clear if the speed is incorrect but multicolored if the player cranks at the correct speed, and Goombas approach them. After 30 seconds or once every Goomba has picked a side, the minigame ends, and whoever lured over the most Goombas wins. In the event that no players lure over Goombas or they have the same number, it is a tie.

The player must use {{button|ds|stylus}} to turn the crank on the organ grinder counterclockwise at the speed shown in the intro to attract giant Goombas to the player's side of the field. If the song is played at the wrong speed, clear notes come out of the music player, but colored notes play if the player has played the song at the correct speed. If the Goombas hear the tune played at the right speed, they start wandering towards the player that is playing at the right speed. There are 50 Goombas. The minigame ends after 30 seconds or when all Goombas on the field have chosen a side. The player that lured the most Goombas to their side wins. If no players had any Goombas or if they have the same number of Goombas in the Duel variant, the minigame ends in a tie.

Call of the Goomba is a 4-Player and Duel minigame in Mario Party DS.

Overview[edit]

The opening shows the player briefly turning a crank to the tune of Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. to lure the Goombas over.

Controls[edit]

  • Stylus – Turn the crank

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Listen to the tempo of the intro tune, then turn the crank to re-create that speed as closely as possible. The better you do, the more Goombas you'll lure."
  • Tips"Your music box will emit colorful notes when you're cranking at the perfect speed."
