History[edit]

Mario Party 2[edit]

The Dueling Glove is used to wager a number of coins decided by the user in Mario Party 2, as the two players compete in a duel minigame specific to the board. It is Wario's favorite item, so he is more likely to attempt to obtain it as a CPU. The Dueling Glove costs 15 coins to buy.

Mario Party 3[edit]

Dueling Gloves, spelled "Duelling Glove" in British English, returns in Mario Party 3 with the same role, but the initiated duel minigames are no longer specific to the board. They cost 10 Coins to buy in Toad's Shop only.

Mario Party: Star Rush[edit]

The Duel Glove is an item in the Toad Scramble mode in Mario Party: Star Rush. Both players wager allies instead, with the function of wagering coins being done by the Coin Glove in Balloon Bash mode.

Mario Party: The Top 100[edit]

Dueling Gloves retain their main purpose in Mario Party: The Top 100, with players wagering coins instead of allies.

Super Mario Party[edit]

Dueling Gloves are items in Partner Party mode in Super Mario Party. When used, the Dueling Glove goes to the selected opponent and slaps them, wagering allies in one of three minigames. One of the minigame has the user then their opponent choose a card numbered 1-5, and whoever picks the higher number wins. Another minigame involves pressing a button within an intended time, though the timer fades out after five seconds, and whoever presses the button the closest to the given time wins. Lastly, there is a minigame where players try to input a sequence of buttons first to win, though it resets if any buttons are pressed out of order.[1]

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

Dueling Gloves return in Mario Party Superstars. They are used to wager coins during a Duel minigame once more. Dueling Gloves can be obtained either at Lucky Spaces, Item Bags, or possibly during the Last Five Turns Event.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]

Dueling Gloves reappear in Super Mario Party Jamboree, functioning exactly like they did in Mario Party Superstars. They can now be bought at shops, at a price of seven coins. There is also the Super Dueling Glove variety, where players duel for stars,[2] though the Dueling Glove has its effect in Pro Rules if both players have at least one star.
