Mecha Sonic[1] is a crossover character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He is a robot replica of Sonic, similar to Metal Sonic, but usually depicted as bulkier and with less personality, and is sometimes implied to be a series of similar robots rather than a single rebuilt model like Metal Sonic is. Each iteration of Mecha Sonic originally appeared as a late boss in both the 8-bit and 16-bit editions of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and then appeared as a major antagonist in Sonic & Knuckles and a brief cameo alongside Metal Sonic in Sonic Adventure, with each of the four games using a different design; his sporadic later appearances are usually based off one of these, and are sometimes given model numbers to differentiate from each other.
