First appearance Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (1995)
Latest appearance Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018)

"Stickerbush Symphony" (also known as "Brambles"[1], "Stickerbush Symphony (Bramble Blast)"[2], and "Stickerbrush Symphony"[3]) is a musical theme in the Donkey Kong Country series, first appearing in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest in the level Bramble Blast. The theme was composed by David Wise, who considers the official name to be "Stickerbush Symphony (Bramble Blast)", but also likes "Stickerbrush Symphony" and "Brambles".[4]

The theme was originally intended for water- or clouds-themed levels, but was shelved during development as the game ended up not having any levels with those themes.[4] It was repurposed for the brambles-themed levels during the final week of development due to a lack of suitable alternatives.[5]

Arrangements

Donkey Kong Land 2

As Donkey Kong Land 2 is a Game Boy game based on Donkey Kong Country 2, a chiptune rendition of "Stickerbush Symphony" is used in the brambles-themed levels, as well as Jungle Jinx and Klobber Karnage in place of "Primal Rave". This arrangement is heavily simplified for the Game Boy's hardware and has a shorter intro.

Donkey Kong Country series

Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)

The Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2 features a different arrangement of the theme that uses different synths.

Donkey Kong Country 3 (Game Boy Advance)

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3, the theme "Cavern Caprice" briefly riffs "Stickerbush Symphony".

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port feature two renditions of "Stickerbush Symphony": One is an arrangement of the entire theme, which appears in the first and third sections of Twilight Terror and uses a flute as the lead instrument, and the other is a jazz arrangement incorporated into the game's credits theme.

Super Smash Bros. series

An arrangement of "Stickerbush Symphony" debuts in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and reappears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl only, it is titled "Bramble Blast".
