The 'Shroom:Issue 215/Staff Notes
Staff Notes
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk) and Sparks (talk)
Hello there, 'Shroom readers! Feels good to be back in the director's chair again, it's been a while since I had an office all the way on the top floor. I feel like I should buy stock in purple paint with how often I'm redecorating these. But I'm excited to say that we have a great issue to kick off the term thanks to our many wonderful writers and staff!
Before I get into that, I'd like to announce that we have a staff position open! We're looking for a new Design Manager to help oversee the visuals of the paper and organize the efforts of our team of volunteer artists. Unlike the older Graphic Design Manager position, you won't even be expected to create the majority of assets for special issues anymore. Not only is it less work on everyone involved overall, but it's allowed us to take our graphical efforts a lot farther - just look at last year's special issues! If you think this might interest you, check out this forum post with more details on what the position entails and how to apply.
But what's going on in this issue? Well, we have even more brand new sections debuting this month! In Pipe Plaza, Camwoodstock (talk) is keeping a close eye on the progress of the main page's new to-do list in To-Do Tracker, and our very own Pipe Plaza Director Zange (talk) is kicking off a section about everyone's favorite puppets in A Section of Muppetational Origins! Meanwhile in Critic Corner, Shoey (talk) is analyzing the foes of yesteryear and what they brought to the table in A Look at Mario Enemies Lost to Time. We've got a bunch of guest sections too, but I can't keep all the announcements for myself, so I'll let Sparks tell you about those!
Enjoy the issue!
—Waluigi Time, Director
Howdy everyone! Did y'all have a nice Valentines/Hearts and Hooves Day? I hope so!
This is the first 'Shroom Issue where I'm Sub-Director and oh boy is it a success! We have a bunch of guest sections for you all to check out! Also, in honor of becoming Sub-Director, I've written a section for every feature in addition to my usual ones!
Mow how do I provide brief descriptions while not going on for too long? Thankfully bullet points are the way to do it!
- Fake News
- News Flush: A section where Boo1268 talks about portals and how others feel about them!
- Game Corner: ClawgripFan9001 (talk) discusses about the upcoming Waluigi World!
- The Triple A Gang: I talk about a mischievous trio of troublemakers!
- Fun Stuff
- 'Shroom Quiz: An original idea by Hooded Pitohui (talk) last year that I brought back! I ask you readers 12 questions about the previous 'Shroom issue!
- Palette Swap
- Say Yes to the Dress: Waluigi Edition: Another story by ClawgripFan9001, featuring Waluigi once again! This time he runs a bridal boutique.
- Pipe Plaza
- A History of The Great and Powerful Trixie: I get to lecture you all about my third favorite My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic character!
- Critic Corner
- Why Ballistic Bingo is a Garbage Minigame: A section where I really criticize an awful minigame in Super Mario Party Jamboree.
- Strategy Wing
- Why Are You So Shaped?: Hooded Pitohui goes into detail about enemy shapes in various Mario games!
Phew.. even with bullet points that's still a lot to get out. That's not a bad thing though - we have many passionate writers on board for this issue! Hopefully engagement gradually rises throughout the year!
Do you want to become the Chairperson for the Poll Committee? Well I have good news for you - the Poll Committee Chairperson election is going on right now! You could be the one to take charge for the next year! Click/tap here for details about how it works. Its discussion page is where voting actually takes place though!
That's all I have to say. Enjoy this 'Shroom Issue everyone!
—Sparks, Sub-Director
