Spiked Koopa

Spike Bro (Toge Bro. in Japan) is the first boss in Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land. He resides at the end of the Rice Beach stage and is armed with spiky armor. In his fight with Wario, he employed a three-pronged attack of striking from land, air, and underground. His shell makes him invulnerable to ground pounds and fire. Spike Bros. also appeared in a Nintendo Power Special, where he was called Spiked Koopa Troopa. This has caused confusion of what his species is; his Spike Bros. name implies he is of Hammer Bro. origin, but his appearance and Spiked Koopa Troopa name implies he is of Koopa Troopa origin. Since Hammer Bros. are just a sub-species of Koopa Troopa, he may be a "missing link" between the two species.
