Decrease damage by 1 with a Guard Action Command. (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Nintendo GameCube)
Boosts Defense by 1 with a successful Guard Action Command by Mario. Wearing two or more of these badges further boosts Defense by 1 per badge. It has no effect on attacks that ignore Defense. (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Nintendo Switch)

Damage Dodge is a badge in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. In Paper Mario, it is found at Mt. Rugged, hidden in an alcove in a small hill, and can be bought from Rowf's Badge Shop after Chapter 5 for 150 coins. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it can be found in the Rogueport Underground, in the area right before the entrance to the Boggly Woods, bought from the Lovely Howz of Badges after Chapter 4 for 150 coins, or rarely dropped by Bob-ombs, Bulky Bob-ombs, and Red Chomps. If it is equipped by Mario, it increases the amount of damage that he can block with his Guard by one. Its effects stack if multiple copies of it are equipped. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it was slightly weakened: the decreased damage when Mario successfully executes a Guard is now a direct increase to Mario's Defense, so it will be bypassed by enemy attacks that pierce Defense.

Merluvlee's predictions in Paper Mario[edit]

  • "I see...a Damage Dodge Badge. It is for sale at the open-air shop in the plaza outside the castle gate."
  • "I see...a Damage Dodge Badge. It's on Mt. Rugged, in the direction opposite the desert. You can see the treasure chest but don't know how to reach it. You enter the small cave and walk to the left up a hidden, sloped path. At the top of the slope is the treasure chest you seek."
