Showdown (as titled in WarioWare: Move It!), previously known as Battle Time in WarioWare Gold and Duelius Maximus in WarioWare: Get It Together!, is a two-player game mode that appears in the WarioWare series since WarioWare Gold. It involves two players playing microgames against each other.

Gameplay

Before the game, each player can set their amount of lives to a maximum of four. During the game, the players play the same microgame at the same time on their own screen. The objective is to keep playing microgames until one player loses their last life. Lives are lost after losing microgames. If both players lose their last life from the same microgame, the mode will enter a tiebreaker and the next player to lose a microgame will lose the battle. After a winner is declared, the results shows the losses from both players.

Microgames become faster and more difficult as the game progresses.

  • Rounds 1-8: Level 1 difficulty at increasing speeds.
  • Rounds 9-16: Speed resets in round 9; Level 2 difficulty at increasing speeds.
  • Rounds 17-24: Speed resets in round 17; Level 3 difficulty at increasing speeds.
  • Rounds 25-32: Speed resets in round 25; Level 3 difficulty at rapidly increasing speeds, reaching maximum speed in round 31. With the speed resetting in round 33, this process repeats after every eight rounds.

Get It Together! introduces a speed-based mode known as Lightning Round, while the original is titled Standard Round. In Lightning Round, players can start with up to eight lives. If a player wins a microgame first, their opponent's screen will freeze (if they have not already lost), making it impossible to win the microgame and thus forcing them to lose a life. It is possible for both players to win at the same time, especially if the microgame is a survival-based microgame. When this happens, no player loses a life.
