Coin Challenge is a free-for-all bonus minigame for 2-4 players in Mario Party 10.
Gameplay
The game starts with the characters competing in a minigame to earn coins based on their position. The minigame is picked randomly for the first round and by the last place player for subsquent rounds. A minigame is a round and whenever 3, 5, or 7 rounds end, depending on how many rounds the player selected, the game ends. The lowest coin total is announced and the 4th place character will come from a small, green pipe doing a losing animation. The 2nd lowest coin total is announced and the 3rd place character will come out of a larger bronze pipe and do a losing animation. Then the 2nd highest coin total is then announced and the 2nd place character from a even larger, silver pipe will come out and do a losing animation. After, the highest coin total will be finally announced and the 1st place character from a large golden pipe comes out and does their winning animation. Note: The total of coins are shown once the characters exit the pipe at the end of the game.
Each minigame awards coins based on the player's position:
1st place | 2nd place | 3rd place | 4th place |
---|---|---|---|
15 coins | 10 coins | 05 coins | 00 coins |
When playing a 5 or 7 round game, the last two rounds have Chance Minigames - selecting them awards double coins based on the minigame result:
1st place | 2nd place | 3rd place | 4th place |
---|---|---|---|
30 coins | 20 coins | 10 coins | 00 coins |
These are the maximum totals that can be achieved in this mode, supposing the last two rounds in a 5 round or 7 round game are played on a Chance Minigame:
3 rounds | 5 rounds | 7 rounds |
---|---|---|
45 coins | 105 coins | 135 coins |
Trivia
- The results screen in this mode has the same resemblance to the results screen in Mario Party mode in a board and amiibo Party mode, except that they lack Coin, Star or Mini Star symbols altogether and that the player labels that say P1, P2, etc. are merged closer to the character icon.
