Pidgit
Template:Species-infobox Pidgits are small black or purple flightless birds that soar through the skies atop Magic Carpets. It's name is a play on the word "pigeon".
History
Super Mario series
Super Mario Bros. 2
Pidgits first appeared in the game Super Mario Bros. 2, where they were a common aerial enemy in Subcon. To attack, a Pidgit would attempt to fly into Mario or one of his friends. Thus, Mario should Jump on top of the p[

Often, Mario needs to use these magic carpets to reach inaccessible parts of certain levels. In the NES version, Pidgit was depicted black as usual - the SNES and GBA editions changed it to blue.
Super Mario World
In Super Mario World, if Mario or Luigi clear all the levels of the Special World, Bullet Bills will be changed to resemble Pidgits and be renamed Pidgit Bills.
Also in Super Mario World, the Lakitus' clouds could be ridden like a Pidgit's carpet, whereas the Pidgit Bills don't even have carpets, but are merely blasted through the air.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
Pidgits made a few rare appearances on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, where they were capable of flying naturally. Instead of riding on Magic Carpets, they would eat them. The mainly appeared in the episode "Mario's Magic Carpet", where King Koopa called a service known as Pidgit Express, and ordered for a dozen Pidgits to eat away at Mario's Magic Carpet. This ended with Luigi remembering that he knew how to speak the Pidgits' own language (named "Pidgit"), and telling them to eat away at King Koopa's Magic Carpet instead, which they proceeded to do. Another, single Pidgit made a brief appearance in the episode "The Unzappables", where it played a saxophone at the Koopa Klub alongside a Goomba pianist and a Shy Guy cellist.
Nintendo Adventure Books
In Brain Drain, while in Iggy Koopa's hideout after having his mind swapped with a Koopa Troopa's due to the Synapse Switcher, Luigi can order a pizza from Magic Carpet Pizza, a pizzeria run by Pidgits, if he punches the correct number into the cafeteria's KoopaFone.
Wario's Woods
Additionally, Pidgits appear as Wario's monsters in Wario's Woods. In that game, they were known as Black Bats, and overcame Wanda during the common event of Wario replacing Birdo. In this game, Pidgits served the same purpose as Wanda, although they dropped extra monsters down on the Toad while Thwomps summoned Bombs. Also, they could somehow fly in this game; it is possible that Black Bats are different entities than Pidgits (although this is unlikely, as they appear to be identical).
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pidgits make a cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. They appear in the level Mushroom Kingdom II and ride magic carpets. While its magic carpet is three-dimensional, the Pidgit is a two-dimensional sprite. The fighters could hop on the magic carpet as long as the Pidgit was on the screen. A trophy of a Pidgit can also be obtained in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Super Princess Peach
In Super Princess Peach, two groups consisting of several Pidgits appear at the ending of the game, where they fly in formations spelling "NICE SHOT" and "CONGRATULATIONS." These Pidgits possessed flight and had red beaks, making them resemble the Pidgit Bills of Super Mario World more than standard Pidgits.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Template:Pitenemy
Pidgits shockingly reappeared after a long disappearance as common enemies in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. They are located on Yoshi's Island. To attack, a Pidgit would fly its magic carpet high in the air, then come crashing down into Mario or Luigi. If a Pidgit is on the left, it would attack Mario. If it's on the right, a Pidgit would attack Luigi. Occasionally, during its attack, a Pidgit will jump, briefly stalling and throwing off Mario or Luigi's counter-attack. However, if a Pidgit jumps before it begins its attack, Mario and Luigi will know that the bird will also jump (and stall) during its attack, allowing the plumbers to adjust their timing for a counter-attack. Additionally, some Pidgits carry a bag in battle; these special Pidgits have a higher Speed rating than normal Pidgits, give up more coins if beaten, and can flee battle.

Pidgits are wingless birds enchanted by the vegetable-hating Wart to be the bearers of bad dreams. They live in Subcon, a land contained within Mario's dreams, where they fly around on magic carpets. Mario and friends were able to use these carpets for short distances once they dislodged the piloting Pidgit. |
