In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Flitters first appear in the level, Topsail Trouble of Gangplank Galleon, and appear in at least one level of every world, including Screech's Sprint of The Flying Krock. Flitters are most prominent in the swamp levels.

Flitters are basic, airborne enemies which Diddy and Dixie Kong can easily defeat by either jumping on it, throwing a projectile at it, or while using an Invincibility Barrel. Flitters always remain afloat in the air; some Flitters remain in their current position, other ones fly endlessly to the left, and few even circle around an item they are guarding. Flitters act the same as Neckys from Donkey Kong Country and Hogwashes from Donkey Kong Land.

There are a few instances where a couple of Flitters are sorted in a long line, such as at the end of Bramble Scramble, or in a "Destroy Them All!" Bonus Area challenge like in Topsail Trouble. The Kongs can bounce on these Flitters to cross gaps that are usually unable to do by themselves.

Flitters reappear in Donkey Kong Land 2, where they act the same as in their previous appearance.

DK: King of Swing / DK: Jungle Climber

Flitters return in the game DK: King of Swing. In this game, a charge attack can defeat one, as jumping on them will not do anything. They also appear in DK: Jungle Climber.
