World map
How do you think, should we illustrate a world scheme on a game page? If scheme neseccarry, I will made a new version of map, with a neat scheme, without unnecessary information. I think it need to specify only a level type (Tower, Ghost, Toad, Warp tube) and a routes --Ger (talk) 09:05, April 17, 2019 (EDT)

Giant DK and Metal Mario
Hi, what's your opinion on whether or not SSBU's Giant DK in Jigglypuff's route and Metal Mario in Bowser's route should be classified as bosses? I think they should by virtue of being specifically-tough final opponents (ie the definition of a boss), but Owencrazyboy9 (talk) keeps saying that "it's just a permanent Super Mushroom/Metal Box" and reverts, and doesn't seem to keen on answering arguments about it made on his talk page. Anyways, what do you think? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:41, April 17, 2019 (EDT)

RE on can you source this banpresto game?
Why yes, I can. It's called super Mario kart dokidoki race and it's on the banpresto forum board in a collection of forum posts to preserve obscure Mario arcade games and it's called arcade coverage super Mario boards the Mario forum. The game was a Japanese exclusive in 1994. There are forum boards by the same people for machines made by other companies; konami, fabtek and sunwise. But banpresto made more Mario arcade games than anyone else did. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:02, June 14, 2019 (EDT)

Question
Hi. I thought about something. So, I guarantee all the stuff I currently have in my phone and not on the wiki is legitimate. Do you think we need to make a page that is not a gallery or a category page and archives information that we don't have on this site yet and once it's found on Google images or a website or YouTube or another video site, then we can finally get it all on the wiki and upload sources on non gallery pages and both photos and sources on galleries? The page would have merchandise, videos, games, facts and more. Do you think we should do this? Cuz I can't leave it sitting on the internet. We need to cover it all. - Yes, and in that case, I uploaded separately because one had the Japanese name of the enemy which was needed for said talk page. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:22, July 19, 2019 (EDT)

- Also, i meant it to show the Japanese name, which is both written in Hiragana and Katakana, which is why it'd be best to leave it with the background.. -- FanOfYoshi 08:18, July 20, 2019 (EDT)
- The focus of the image is the enemy itself; the Japanese name is an unnecessary detail, having two images simply with that difference even more so. As I said, you can find them in the full image linked on the file page, as well as under "Names in other languages". Mario JC 08:25, July 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Thing is, though, having the name associated with the picture in plain sight is much better due to the image being used on such a contentious discussion, which is precisely why I uploaded it separately in the first place. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:57, July 20, 2019 (EDT)

2 questions
So I have been adding pictures to the list of Pi'illos, but I decided that some of them need to be redone. So I uploaded new versions, but they aren't showing to me. Any idea why? The second question is related to the first could you maybe delete some of them so the final files that I will add later doesn't look so messy? Files to delete would be: M&LDT Pi'illo Castle Pi'illo 3, M&LDT Mushrise Park Pi'illo 1, M&LDT Dozing Sands Pi'illo 2, M&LDT Wakeport Pi'illo 1, M&LDT Mount Pajamaja Pi'illo 1, M&LDT Mount Pajamaja Pi'illo 2, M&LDT Mount Pajamaja Pi'illo 3 (I also made a duplicate file named M&LDT Mount Pajamaja Pi'illo 3 NEW, so that can be deleted too). Help with broken DS Lite shoulder button
Hello,
I noticed on your userpage that your DS Lite's L button no longer responds. I have a similar problem (though this is overshadowed by my even less functional d-pad) but the L button does respond sometimes. I have never tried fixing it (and intend to buy a New 3DS sometime) but I have heard that many people are helped by blowing into it (something about oxidation or sth.) If that doesn't work you can always try the procedure at https://gbatemp.net/threads/kipmudzs-solution-to-malfunctioning-dslites-shoulder-buttons.335590/. I see that you also own a GBASP, a 3DS and a New 3DS so I don't suppose this is necessary but I hope that it helps you anyway MiracleDinner (talk) 05:50, August 14, 2019 (EDT)

Block
If some readers don't want to count obscure games, then I'll just have to ask Steve if he can reprogram this wiki to block those people from accessing the wiki. Because this is now a dedicated website that human beings helped grow, archiving obscure and popular content and facts alike and I'm not going to have people overlook obscure content just because they're unfamiliar with it. I joined this site for 2 reasons: to archive and popularize obscure and missing content. And I'm gonna do everything it takes to make sure nothing can ever become obscure again, even if it means asking Steve to protect the Mario franchise from overlookers. Please don't block me again. It's not fun. I just wanted my voice to be heard. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:25, August 22, 2019 (EDT)
- Now, I don't really know if it is my place to say this, but I highly doubt that Steve is going to do anything regarding blocks like that. That's not how we do it here. If you want to create an obscurity list, that is okay, but it should probably kept in a section(s) dedicated to the obscure and unusual. If that does not exist, you could formulate a proposal to allow the creation of one. No one is actively trying to hide these materials from being known about, we're just trying to keep it in a very concise, but broad manner. Trig - 22:35, August 22, 2019 (EDT)
- ...why would you block people for not sharing a particular interest anyway? Thought police much? -- Lord G. matters. 00:06, August 23, 2019 (EDT)
- If we did that, it would open up a whole can of worms regarding blocks and particular interests. Would I be blocked because I regard Action 52 as good? Would everyone who hates Super Mario Galaxy be blocked? I fear that with that system, only one person would be left at the end. Interests can be different, and that's good. I personally think that blocking users just because they don't happen to share a particular interest with you is very discourteous. I am not alone on this sentiment, as the messages above have proven. TheDarkStar 14:23, August 23, 2019 (EDT)
Super Mario Maker 2 SMB1 Sky Theme Does NOT Originate from Super Smash Bros. Brawl –– PROOF
So, this is in regards to the Super Mario Maker 2 page where it's stated that the bridge section of the SMB1 Sky theme comes from the Brawl arrangement.
Here's Koji Kondo playing this himself, this performance dates back to 2007. It's crappy quality, but I'm including this version here so that you know 100% that I'm not lying that this is indeed from 2007.
Another perspective, better quality, includes the variation of that bridge section at 1:18.
Now, these are just rehearsal videos, he actually performed it at Video Games Live in 2007, and this is that performance. Again, just to hammer this home, 6:24 is that same modified bridge section which was later used in Brawl which came out in 2008.
Now, you can say "Well, this was 2007, Brawl came out less than a year later. He probably already made the arrangement and just incorporated some of that into his piano performance!"
Well, this modified bridge section predates even THAT concert. It actually comes from the recording of the Mario medley, based on the themes from the first Super Mario Bros. game with the London Symphony Orchestra playing it.
Here's the full recording by the London Symphony Orchestra, the bridge section in question is at 0:38
I don't know exactly what year this recording came out, but it was used in this Newgruonds flash which came out in 2001, so it predates Brawl by at least 7 years!
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/25555
My original edit simply stated that while the SMB1 Sky theme "came from Brawl," it actually predates Brawl quite a bit. Now that I've provided you with more than enough proof on this, I'm going to go back and reinstate my original edit as I find it entirely appropriate, and would appreciate if you don't remove it this time.
Thanks, Mario54671
Yet two more things
- What's your opinion on how "Literal translation" should be used? More specifically, what do you have to say to the points I made in this edit summary?
- I know this is way too late, but was it really a good idea to rename this user? On another Wiki (one where I'm a user, no less), the fact that he uses this same username, combined with the fact that he has acted like he owns that Wiki, makes the Wiki in question look like a joke.

I replaced your screenshot here with a game rip. I know that this is the right sprite because of the file I got it from, and the other sprites in the same file. I do think we should replace these images with sprites instead of YouTube screenshots. Scrooge200 (talk) 12:31, September 9, 2019 (EDT)
- Then why did you say you got it from YouTube? And if you did get it as a direct capture from the Switch, shouldn't these images be .jpgs? We can resize the images, like we already do right now. When we have all of them as sprites, it'll look better. And all of them do have transparency space in the files, so I could just leave them uncropped. Scrooge200 (talk) 22:03, September 9, 2019 (EDT)
- But the point of these sprites is that they do fit in a box. The Wiggler is just the head, the Banzai Bill and Skewer are cropped, etc. It'd not be changing the image itself, it'd be getting a higher quality version. Scrooge200 (talk) 22:34, September 9, 2019 (EDT)

Permision to add 2 pages + A question
So I recently completed the item lists for Dream Team and Paper Jam and I was wondering, can I do the same for the remake of the Superstar Saga, since lot of it is same from the original game? Well some of it is different like the number of beans in the Teehee Valley, Beanbean Fields+Airport and Chateau le Chucklehuck+Chuklehuck Woods.
I also will do the beanholes from the remake for Bowser's Inside Story since there's no reason NOT to do it since the number and the types of beans are different (to resemble later titles).
Another thing is related to this: Is it possible that the List of Beanholes for Superstar Saga is not accurate? Like I don't remember seeing that the remake removed some beans, only made the invisible ones visible, so the numbers should be same, but in the areas mentioned above it's not the case. It will take time but I will find out myself. But if I'm proven right I would add to the old list. But if not, that means some beans were added in the remake, so that's another reason to do that list for the remake.
The reason I'm asking is that like I would do the list but then it would be deleted because it would seem unnecessary.
Well, that's all from me for now.
Note: I'm sorry for the mess in the history tab, my PC bugged out in that moment.--Mid188 (talk) 15:46, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
Edit: So I have found 1 in Teehee Valley and added a picture. But also found the place in Beanbean Fields where it's supposed to be, but isn't. And in Chucklehuck Woods, in the remake, the 5 required to dig out aren't counted in the Records option in the menu, so the number is fine without them. So, the remake added 1 new beanhole and made the others visible and some visible one have been moved. So in my opinion, I think the list of beanholes for the remake is a good idea. And while I would do that, I would also do the hidden blocks. Just to have everything. Now, I'm done. Sorry for the long message (if it's bothering you).--Mid188 (talk) 18:18, September 15, 2019 (EDT)

So I had an idea...
I'm too tired to make a full proposal about this right now, but you know how we sometimes get artwork from unclear and/or dubious sources (and in some cases, have had them since nearly the beginning) and aren't really sure if it's actual official art or just fan-made? I thought perhaps instead of doing the potentially harmful keeping or immediately deleting, we make some sort of "probationary gallery" to store them in until it's proven either way, so as to not forget about proving or disproving them. Seem like a good idea? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:31, September 27, 2019 (EDT)

Super Mario Party notability
I know there's been talk about potentially broadening the scope of the wiki's general notability guideline, but I'd nonetheless like to hear your opinion on what parts of certain subjects in Super Mario Party should receive their own articles:
- First of all, should the Mario Party and Partner Party boards be split? My thinking is that unlike the Bowser Party variants of boards in Mario Party 10, these are different boards with different layouts, and the only thing similar about them is the general theme of each board.
- Second, should the different pathways in the River Survival mode get their own articles? I think they should, since not only is each path named, but they're also in fixed locations, have the same layouts, etc. That's also not to mention that I already split out the Challenge Road worlds into their own articles due to the precedent already set for the Minigame Island worlds in Mario Party: The Top 100.
- Third, and lastly, should Bad Luck Space be split from Unlucky Space? My thinking is that these spaces are more akin to Bowser Spaces from previous games. I know I already split VS Space from Minigame Space due to being too different, but I want your opinion to ensure that my actions aren't too overkill.
Thanks for your time. (T|C) 12:57, October 22, 2019 (EDT)
- Fixed the content fork you mentioned (honestly I have no idea how it went unnoticed for six months), though I have explained my reasons for splitting VS Space and Minigame Space here (second comment from top). I'll probably start splitting out Bad Luck Space (and Extra Bad Luck Space) as soon as possible, though I will take your advice for the Partner Party boards and start a proposal to split those out soon. Look at the bold sentence!
Contractions (such as "it's", "can't", and "doesn't") should be kept out of article writings (instead using "it is", "cannot"/"can not", and "does not"), unless they are used in things like quotes. They can be used on talk pages, but using contractions on articles does not look very professional and should be avoided as much as possible. Using "can not" should also be avoided.CuteDolphin712 (talk) 04:55, October 25, 2019 (EDT)

Peach Explores Outfit
Seeing that Super Mario Odyssey uses a lot of obscure elements mainly with the outfits, including some from Japanese media like the Scientist Outfit from the Super Game Boy Commercial, it's not that big of a stretch compared to other games. But Peach's explorable outfit in Picross 2 shows she wears shorts and socks and that's the only game she had that appearance until Super Mario Odyssey which was way before the Mario Party 2 outfit which I am glad you removed that reference since those are indeed a stretch including the fact she is wearing a different pink dress and Mario's explorable outfit is more direct from Mario Picross. But her outfit in Super Mario Odyssey is 96% accurate to the one from Picross 2. Now about that scarf/shirt being oddly the smallest issue of this, Even if it was one of them there both the same triangular shape and Mario even has it too in the same shape of the inside of the pointed collar but even that is never said to be either a shirt or scarf in the collar of his explorable outfit. Also Peach has a neck that sticks out more from Mario so of course that pink neck wear is going to get adjusted. Peach's explorable outfit is using the most of the model parts from Mario's which is from the Mario Picross series in Super Mario Odyssey. But clearly Peach's explorable Outfit is from Picross 2. Only Peach's explorable Outfit in Mario Party 2 has a scarf.
Keep in mind that Nintendo does sometimes tweak/update designs such as Dr. Mario now sporting a tie since Dr. Mario 64. I am not using the Pirate and Cowboy Outfit as an example those barley look anything like the ones from Mario Party 2 so there indeed not originated from that game. --Gamermakerguy (talk) 23:45, November 8, 2019 (EST)

no proof that Eriko Ibe is Japanese.
Hello Eriko Ibe (now Eriko Kenyatta as of 2018) is not Japanese. Nobody has proof that she is Japanese other than American ignorance where you guys assume that just because she has a non-European name and Nintendo itself is Japanes that therefore Eriko Ibe (who has a completely non-Japanese name) is Japanese. Learn about Africa people. 199.101.61.254 16:28, November 18, 2019 (EST)
Also he rname is not Japanese as I am named Andrew Ibe, and like Eriko was born in South-Central Africa. 199.101.61.254 19:08, November 18, 2019 (EST)
- The surname "Ibe" in this instance (pronounced "i-beh") is Japanese as the credits in the Japanese manual show. Also, you keep pulling these facts like her name as of 2018 and her supposed birthplace yet you have not provided any proof for any of this whatsoever. If you're insistent on the fact that she isn't Japanese (even going so far as to call out Americans for being "ignorant", which was extremely rude), the least you could do is show some evidence for the information you keep bringing up from your side. Otherwise, simply saying "There's no proof she is Japanese" would have sufficed. Mario JC 19:19, November 18, 2019 (EST)
Well it's true, you Americans are ignorant in terms of much of the rest of the world. that's not rude if it's true. If I asked a bunch of Americans without letting them google it to tell me where Lusaka is, how many would say "Japan?" 199.101.61.254 17:43, November 19, 2019 (EST)

- Surnames from different languages can have the same spelling by coincidence. "Eriko" may be a Bantu name and is probably pronounced differently but it's also a Japanese name (恵理子) (and a common one at that), which is the case here. "Lee" for example is an English surname but it's also one in Chinese. Mario JC 19:38, November 18, 2019 (EST)

I'm trying to find marriage records with her in it, as she married last year and is now Eriko Kenyatta, as she married a Kenyan man.
Keep in mind though not every country keeps records like your country of the USA does.
I will keep searching though, I'm wondering if that will either prove her origins or else the fact she's no longer Eriko Ibe?
I'll see if I can find it. I was there but didn't get a good pic due to my phone dying at the wedding though.
That said, I will look and see if there are records either in Zambia or Kenya, hopefully they do keep records of marriages like in the USA.
199.101.61.254 19:56, November 18, 2019 (EST)
- Why would her marrying an African man and changing her name suddenly make her no longer Japanese, though? -- Lord G. matters. 20:34, November 18, 2019 (EST)
It'd be proof she never was Japanese because in some countries especially with international marriages you'd see the country of birth for pth people. if it does, it'd show that Eriko Ibe was born in Lusaka. There is no such place as Lusaka, Japan. 199.101.61.254 10:55, November 19, 2019 (EST)
- Not being born in Japan =/= not ethnically Japanese. -- Lord G. matters. 19:55, November 19, 2019 (EST)

Hi! I've fixed my signature. Now for the character artwork. Unfortunately, two of the dataminers I've gotten images from for New York - Paris have left. We have a new dataminer, but the one thing we're unsure of and they never told is how they automatically got the images transparent when exporting. What they've said to do never worked for us now. Because of that, I have to take an image with broken alphas and manually fix it with a black and white image also in the game's files, which does leave a bit of residue. Original image uploads from the user should rename the file?
Sometimes when we upload a file of the image we put to the wiki, the name of the file is not renamed and cannot be changed but only applies to admins. Should users who first upload images be able to rename the file if they forgot to? This is a suggestion.
For example (in this case): I upload a file that has the Super Mario Bros. 3 warp pipe yellow icon for Super Mario Maker 2 and I forgot to rename the file and I am unable to do that.

New York Minute
Just wanted to be sure if you're okay with this, but should New York Minute still be a redirect to New York Minute 1? I just think that since the "1" was appended to the end of the title in the Winter Tour for MKT, readers would still be more likely to search for the first variation of the course than the second. (T|C) 20:34, December 18, 2019 (EST)
- To further elaborate, does that mean that there should also be disambig. pages for Vanilla Lake, Yellow Leaves Hill, and so on because those titles feature numbered race courses as well? Thing is, though, I already said I'd stop for the time being before you issued the last warning, so I don't know if it was entirely necessary. - I'd also like to point out that there was another slew of undiscussed page splits of the same kind on August 31 and September 1, 2017 that were all carried out by the same user. RE: "Retro Tour"
Now that you mentioned this, I probably got it from a ResetEra forum thread which was either unsourced or gave a fan nickname. I looked at YouTube videos of the beta tests a while back, and the game NEVER mentioned "Retro Tour". It only said "Beta Test" in the American version and "β テスト" (meaning Beta Test) in the Japanese version, as the beta was released only in America and Japan. Many IPs have been straight-up vandals. They change PNG and JPG images to weird names (e.g. [[File:Mario.png]] to [[File:Mari.png]]), add content containing bad words, and even just changing pages in general! Is there an option to require all contributors to log in like Bulbapedia and formerly WiKirby? That would add an extra layer of defense to our wiki.

As shown here, everyone else wants me to add an infobox. I was adding them until you reverted them! I am adding a new revision with different descriptions but why do you have to revert them when everyone else agrees? That is my second favorite Mario game, outside of SMO!
And what is wrong with Story Mode? Isn't it a main mode?
BTW don't re-comment on my message wall and please just comment here instead.
Octoling Rendezvous 07:45, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- I never said adding a table is wrong. I said what you're doing with it is wrong: copying/pasting the information from the previous NSMB games' articles. Start the descriptions from scratch based on what you've played of the game, and why not add something that would distinguish it from the others (like a first level appearance column)? the You even have plenty of time before the deadline. Being a favourite game isn't why an article gets featured.
- And I've already explained why the "Story Mode" section is inaccurate: There are parts that still apply to outside of Story Mode, like Controls, and parts that don't apply to Story Mode ("Extra modes"), so having them under "Story Mode" doesn't make sense. Please read the summaries more carefully. This layout is fine as it is and isn't a reason why it shouldn't be featured.

Hello Mario jc.
I have came here to apologize for my past mistake: Forgetting italics, edit warring, giving undeserved warnings, and conflict with Mario Sakuraba, Doc von Schmeltwick, and a few admins (including TheFlameChomp, Alex95, and you). My last mistake was adding a {{conjecture}} to a page. I thought that in LM3, every room had no name (like the SMG planets). Do you think I deserve a last warning or even a block?
Also, if your nomination for a featured article fails, can you try again?
Octoling Rendezvous 09:21, June 3, 2020 (EDT)
- Don't exaggerate. You don't get a warning or block for making a first-time mistake in good faith like thinking a name was conjectural. It's not an obvious or repeated breach of the rules or anything.
- There doesn't seem to be a cooldown period for FAs, but you're likely going to get the same results if you nominate it again immediately after. Take time to improve the page as others have suggested, then you can nominate it again. Mario JC 21:58, June 3, 2020 (EDT)

Why I do this
I believe that some users have bad faith and are reverting my good edits on purpose just so that you guys can give me warnings. That is why I revert edits unless an extremely good edit summary is added. I conflict with Keyblade and Doc because I think that they have bad faith. If an admin undoes it, however, I know that good faith is in them. The last warning I got is too harsh. Maybe reduce it to another regular warning? I am in hot enemy ink.
BTW warnings should expire, as a permanent {{lastwarn}} will block me with even a level one offense. Also, admin warnings should be able to appeal.

Screwtop Shroom
Hi, I have a question regarding naming policy again. Apparently the unnamed "Screwtop Shrooms" in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U have the name "Neji-shiki Kinoko" in the Shogakukan guide. Is that a suitable name, or should the translation of the name (the article's current title) be used instead? (T|C) 10:43, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- Alternately, I think the internal "Spin Kinoko Lift" is a more usable name since it is common to both games and there is some more English in it (not entirely, but since "Kinoko" is already present in many other articles, I think readers will be able to easily deduce that kinoko means mushroom). Nintendo Power priority
Actually, that rule only applies to Prima guides pre-Super Mario Galaxy; since Super Paper Mario is the last game properly covered by Nintendo Power, the more recent New Super Mario Bros. U Prima name would be a more appropriate title than the older Yoshi's Island Player's Guide. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:25, July 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Note that source priority mainly changes between different formats, however; I don't want to emphasize policy, but it has a few choice phrases that make strategy guides different from that example:
Perhaps it can be reworded to be a little less confusing, but the way I interpret it, the bold (especially for third tier) would only make sense if, albeit implicitly, post-2007 Prima Games Strategy Guides are second tier. In fact, I know I'm not the only one who sees it that way, since the wiki already upholds several article titles such as Super Note Block and Big Deep Cheep with this logic. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:33, July 16, 2020 (EDT)2. Name from a Nintendo Player's Guide – A name from a Nintendo Player's Guide (also commonly known as a Nintendo Power guidebook) is an acceptable alternative. For games released after 2007, this source can no longer be used since this source is currently discontinued. Super Paper Mario is the last game in the Mario series to be covered by Nintendo Power.
3. Name from a pre-Super Mario Galaxy Prima Games Strategy Guide or any other third-party guide – A name from an officially-licensed Prima Games Strategy Guide (when they were published concurrently with Nintendo Power) is also an acceptable alternative, though in case of contradictions, the Nintendo Power name takes priority. This also applies to other official third-party guides by companies such as Bradygames. For Japanese names, guides published by Shogakukan (Nintendo's official guidebook licensee) take priority over other publications.
Should we add a warning spoilers template for latest Mario game releases?
So we do know that when a new game is announced, a new page is created with some information, and more is added when more of the game is revealed until full release. If there is some people on this wiki looking about the game and have not played it before (Paper Mario: The Origami King for example), there should be a warning template about spoilers if they have not played it before, and the section of the story is hidden until they select "continue" and thus opening the story. And maybe discuss about removing the spoiler after about one or two months after release. Think this is a good idea? MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 15:51, July 16, 2020 (EDT)
- I think there was a proposal before to stop doing this, and I once tried to propose holding back on spoilers until a game was out (not adding information only revealed from leaks or anything unofficial such as Prosafiagaming), which didn't pass. It's why I haven't been contributing to anything related to Paper Mario: The Origami King. I still wish spoilers would at least be cooled for new games. Nightwicked Bowser
We added a new policy page if you'd like to read it. Mario JC 23:10, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
- Mmm, this makes sense now, so then we should be able to avoid stories of latest releases at all costs while playing to not lose our interest. But people these days out there might just spoil the game elsewhere on the internet which it may all happen to us before, but as long we avoid it, everything should be fine. Hi, so I was thinking of a more suitable conjectural name for this article. Would "Violet Isles captain" work?
