Image that's not related to Mario series!

File:Stephan.png

Is in User:Alex95. Mario Party 6 promotional artwork: TwilaMusic Video 123 (talk) 10:54, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

Yes? Stephan is a character I created. We are allowed to have up to four personal images on the wiki, and the image of Stephan is one of mine. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 10:58, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

Super Paper Mario edit

How is that Mario Party reference not a reference? I don't understand that. Please explain. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:48, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

I know I've barged in a lot, but I'll go ahead and do it again. Given how obscure a reference that would be, it's more than likely a coincidence. Especially given he was brainwashed. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:10, 26 July 2017 (CT)
There's also no evidence that it is referencing Mario Party. It's also very rare for the Paper Mario series to reference the Mario Party series, so this just seems like a stretch. Samus costume, in Super Mario Maker. Mario JC 23:13, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

RE:DKCTF Image

So do all DKCTF screenshots that I have uploaded lately go against the policy? I used the Wii U Image Share service to take them, and they were originally jpg images. Should every single one be deleted and recaptured in jpg, or can they just be converted back to their original format? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Okay, then... there's a grand total of about 350 pictures that were originally jpg (counted from when I started uploading in PNG format), so I'm gonna need a wee bit of help :)
I used Photoshop to simply save them as PNGs. After you reply to this message, I will start saving the existing images, then I will convert them back to JPEG in Photoshop, as I am not willing to download any other conversion software. Problem is, the size of the converted JPEG file is bigger than that of the raw JPEG file, and I have deleted almost all original images. I messed up so badly, sorry for being so stupid... Hold on, I discovered they were just lurking in the Recycle Bin. Not all of them, but most; I don't have the pictures from here anymore. As for level and Capsule Toy Machine-related images, they're up and about! -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE
Alright! We should get started, but how do we organize ourselves? Will you begin by deleting the PNGs one-by-one as you said and then I come and replace them with JPEGs, or vice-versa? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Just to clarify policy (because I proposed it and it passed), the conversion Super Radio (talk) did shouldn't have happened in the first place. It was so much effort with little payoff. The policy applies to both JPEGs that weren't uploaded to Super Mario Wiki yet as well as already uploaded JPEGs being converted to PNG. It was meant to defend against uploads like File:Thwomp Wario's Woods.png, originally done by Xaq (talk), but eventually redone by me. Another protection is fan transparency on JPEGs of artwork, because JPEGs are incapable of transparency. Editors should just wait to see if a lossless alternative turns up. This shouldn't be confused with recaptures, which I do and doesn't violate the policy in any way. A lot of confusion stems from what the difference is between conversion and replacing and how JPEG and PNG formats work. If that needs to be clarified, just ask me about it. Editing this wiki has gotten me ridiculously experienced with image formats. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:39, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

Yes, yes, I know! My actions were driven by the thought that someone would apply PNG Monstrous on the images and that would make them more compact. I had forgotten the image policy, though I had read it beforehand. So my decision to convert the pictures to PNG after taking them was idiotic to put it shortly. Sorry for that. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Italics

You claimed on an anon's talk page that italics shouldn't be used for Kodansha manga. MarioWiki:Manual of Style#Italicizing titles contradicts this, saying print publications should be. This is done with Nintendo Power, so I don't see why Kodansha should be different. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:08, 1 August 2017 (EDT)

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:11, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

File revisions

Hey, can you please delete the two other file revisions for File:SMB-Line-Mario-1UP.gif? I got the latest one to display correctly, but the two broken revisions are severely slowing down the file's load time. Thanks! LBsig.png LB (talkeditsforum) 05:57, 4 August 2017 (EDT)

Watch

Hi, could you please move Watch to Watch (enemy) and also move Watch (Mario's Time Machine) to Watch? I'd do it myself, but I'm currently stuck with a mobile device and can't move the pages myself. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 10:54, 8 August 2017 (EDT)

Watch, or even Watch (item), could be easily confused for a Stop Watch or a Timer. I do not support moving it. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 10:57, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
In that case, it might be good to create a disambiguation page for that reason, maybe Watch (disambiguation)...?
It's also worth noting that articles with conjectural titles usually get identifiers over similarly-named nonconjectural articles; in this case, the Wario Land enemy should have an identifier. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 12:20, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
The enemy's name is not conjectural, it's official from another language. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:47, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
Oh, well in that case, let's just move Watch (Mario's Time Machine) to Watch (item) and create a disambiguation page. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 15:11, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
I already covered that in my other post. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 16:05, 8 August 2017 (EDT)

Vandalism

Is there any reason why the edit summaries on Super Mario Sunshine were hidden, but not the revisions themselves? Niiue (talk) 01:43, 13 August 2017 (EDT)

Re: Vandal

Alright, I just wasn't sure if it'd be a good idea to leave the page in the unique state it was in, especially since I wasn't sure when an admin would be on. Niiue (talk) 01:49, 13 August 2017 (EDT)

Proposal

Since I no longer agree with my reasoning behind it, can you cancel my proposal to delete Template:Goals? Judging by the rules on MarioWiki:Proposals, I just missed my window of opportunity to do so myself. Niiue (talk) 05:30, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Alright, thanks! Niiue (talk) 05:49, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Maintenance move

Hi, could you please move MarioWiki:Proposals Talk Archive 1 to MarioWiki talk:Proposals/Archive 1 without leaving a redirect? Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 11:10, 16 August 2017 (EDT)

On second thought, could you please move the three comments from the latter page onto the former and then delete and move? Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 11:12, 16 August 2017 (EDT)

Image Quality

Does moving an image to a new name change the image's resolution/quality in any way, because I moved File:Mkwii MooMeadows.jpg to File:MooMooMeadows MKWii.jpg and now it appears much blurrier on the course's page than it did before. Coins

Your recent edits made me curious about something: is it Coin (with a capital C) or coin (with a lowercase c)? The Coin page uses the lowercase coin near-consistently, but I've seen articles use both. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:27, 25 August 2017 (EDT)

That's very helpful and not at all frustrating for this encyclopedia of ours. Maybe it'd be worth making a proposal to set a standard? Something akin to the one we had for minigame/mini-game. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:38, 25 August 2017 (EDT)
I should probably space out my proposals more, especially since I'm still working on the archive and the MTM articles, but I'm too used to striking while the iron is hot. The coin proposal's up here. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 00:18, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

Question

A bit late, but is there any reason you added a "Species Origin" section to the T-Rex infobox, despite the proposal to stop listing things as sub-species of generic species (as well as "species origin" being replaced with "parent species")? Just wondering if I missed something is all. Niiue (talk) 06:35, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Brawl enemies

Can I go through the categories for them now? Looks like you're focusing on quotes and music now. I just wanna help. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:06, 1 September 2017 (CT)

Thanks for that quick fix. The reason is for those people who still link to the duplicate image. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:55, 3 September 2017 (EDT)

New Worlds in Mario Odyssey

Yeah about that, The words "Mushroom Kingdom" and "Snow Kingdom" are hard to see because the picture of the Amiibos is in the way though. BeautifulBowletta (talk) 23:53, 03 September 2017 (MST)

@JC Maybe he's leaving the Mushroom Kingdom, but he's not leaving the planet. It'd still have a place on the globe. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:42, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

I actually just got that right before I read your message. I'm an idiot.
Guess I'm so used to Mario exploring different planets. Samus costume, in Super Mario Maker. Mario JC 05:53, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

RE: Chef Bro

I can't remember which page I saw it on, but I saw that name on another article and added it to the SMO page. I probably should've made sure it was sourced before I added it though. LuigiMaster123's signature icon. LuigiMaster123 00:33, 5 September 2017 (EDT)

Images

Hi, so Eldritchdraaks (talk) wants to upload images on the battle maps in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle he created himself, but also wants to know if there are any additional permissions required to upload them. I don't see anything about permissions in MarioWiki:Image use policy, so if you could, could you please direct me to any policy that points out any permissions on self-published images? Thanks! Proposal archive

With this recently passed proposal, old proposals should be updated to reflect the date that they were canceled or withdrawn. I can take care of the talk page proposals easy enough, but the main proposals are in protected archives. There isn't exactly a neat solution for taking care of this, especially since not every archive has a withdrawn proposal and the archive's history pages aren't always indicative of when the proposals were pulled (though time doesn't matter per the proposal, the date may still be off by a day). For the moment, I'm digging through the main proposal's history page and collecting dates (something I should have done before, I'm aware), but when everything is set for editing the archives, how should it be done? Would it be more appropriate to unprotect the necessary archives and let me edit them, or tell an admin what edits need to be done and let them do it? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:28, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

I'll be sure to do that once I actually make the list. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:44, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
While I was digging through the archives, I came across a proposal that was canceled by its proposer but never added to the archive. Going by its date, it would fit into Archive 17 and require a lot of shuffling around to accommodate... supposing that it's archived, of course. Rule 12 says that "All proposals are archived," but at this point, should this one still be archived? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:04, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

Finally finished the list! In short, the archives that need to be edited are #2, #4, and everything after #15 except for #25. I'll also try to slot in the proposals that weren't archived. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:31, 10 September 2017 (EDT)

I've finished! The necessary proposals have been updated, and I've slotted in the missing proposals I noticed (barring one; I'm waiting on some clarification from the original person who removed it). Thank you very much for your help! Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:56, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
Pardon, but is there a reason that the archives between 10 and 19 aren't protected? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:07, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
Ghost Jam gave me the go-ahead to archive it, so #43 can be protected. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:00, 16 September 2017 (EDT)

Locations in SMO

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to give those locations articles, especially if they're named? The Llama's Temple's temple isn't merged with Angry Aztec, Hotel Delfino isn't merged with Sirena Beach, Behind the Waterfall isn't merged with Hazy Maze Cave, and I'm sure there are other examples. It seems likely that people would be searching specifically for them, so I don't see why we need to compress them into other articles. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:40, 16 September 2017 (EDT)

Looking for advice

Hi, I'm looking for advice on how to make proposals more "visible" to users that doesn't involve canvassing, because the proposals I currently have up have rarely, if ever, been voted on so far. Any suggestions? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 08:12, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
