Shuri
Shuries are malevolent starfish that prowl the waters of Donkey Kong Island and Crocodile Isle.
Shuries first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as semi-common enemies in the game's various underwater levels. Shuries have two attack patterns. Pink Shuries wait for the Kongs to approach and then charge at them while spinning rapidly. On the other hand, the orange variety spin through the water and bounce off walls, damaging anything that got too close. Shuries can only be defeated by Enguarde the Swordfish.
Shuries also appear in Donkey Kong Country 2's pseudo-sequel Donkey Kong Land 2. In this game, their attack pattern was the same.
Shuries make another reappearance in Donkey Kong 64. In this game, Shuries are rare enemies only encountered in a few underwater areas. Their attack pattern is also similar to the orange variety of Shuri from Donkey Kong Country 2. Shuries cannot be defeated in Donkey Kong 64.
Shuries also appear in DK: King of Swing and its sequel DK Jungle Climber, where they attack the same way as in their first appearance.

Trivia
- The name Shuri is possibly derived from the throwing weapon the shuriken, which incidentally resembles a star.
