Template:DKClevelbox Springin' Spiders is the ninth level of the third addition to the Donkey Kong Country series, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is also the fourth area of the Kremwood Forest. In the Game Boy Advance remake of the game, it is instead the sixth level, as well as the first area in the Kremwood Forest.

During this level, the Kongs will find themselves climbing to the top of two tall trees. However, this can be tough, as many platforms are too high up to reach. So, they will need to use the help of the rare creatures, Nids, who are placed all throughout the level. The spider-like helpers can use their jumping skills to lift the monkeys up place-to-place. They will have to be careful while they climb the tree, though, as the area is infested with countless numbers of Buzzes, who can easily attack the heroes if they aren't careful. Bristles also make their debut here, along with a single Swoopy. Other enemies include Sneeks and Knik-Knaks. If the level becomes to tough for them, the Kongs can find a hidden Animal Barrel to turn into Squawks. This buddy can help them defeat many enemies with his nut-spitting abilities.

Level Layout

The level begins with the Kongs inside of the first tree. They should use a large branch to cross into the neighboring tree and then find a Nid to raise them to a higher area. This higher area will include many platforms jutting out of the tree. The apes should jump upwards to a small opening with the platforms and exit the tree, where they will meet another Nid. This Nid will help them reach a few short branches. Near the branches is an opening leading back inside of the second tree. When the monkeys enter the tree, they should climb to the top of the area, with a little bit of help from the Nids. Once they reach the highest reachable point in that area, they will notice the letter K and another small opening to go through. It will take them to a large branch with a gap in it. Inside of this gap, the apes can find the helpful Animal Buddy, Squawks, in his Animal Barrel. Continuing into the first tree, the Kongs will find a few Nids and several platforms to help them climb to the top of the area. If they manage to reach the top of the tree's interior, they will find a passage leading to the neighboring tree with the letter O. In this tree, the heroes will find some more Nids to help them reach the top of the area. While climbing, though, they will have to watch out for a few Buzzes in the way. At the top of the area, the monkeys will pass a No Animal Sign, which will make Squawks disappear if he was freed from his Animal Barrel. Farther on, the apes will find a Nid, who will help them bounce over a wall of Buzzes outside of the two trees. The monkeys will then find themselves near an entrance back into the first tree. In this tree, they will use several more Nids to reach the top of the large area. These Nids will jump much higher than usual, as the platforms in the tree are much farther apart than usual. At the top of this area, the heroes will find the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the heroes will find a pathway leading over to the neighboring tree. In this tree, they will use several small platforms and a few Nids to reach the top of the area, where they will find the passage out of the tree. The passage will lead into the tree to the left, and inside of this tree, the apes will use a few small platforms to reach a passage to the left side of the first tree. Climbing the small branches there will take them to a platform above a red Buzz. They should drop down, landing next to the Buzz, and then exit the tree to find a Knik-Knak between a large gap. If they bounce on the insect, they will be able to reach the entrance back into the second tree. In this tree, they will, as before, need to use a few Nids and platforms to climb the area, avoiding several restless Buzzes. At the top of the area, Kiddy and Dixie will find a passage leading to a few branches between the two trees. Hopping to higher places with the branches, they will soon make their way into the first tree, where they will use more Nids to bounce to high platforms. If they safely make it to the top of this area, they will find a pathway to the second tree again. With the help of a few more Nids and platforms, the Kongs should make their way to the top of the area and outside of the two trees, where they will climb up a few branches to find the level's highest point. Back inside of the second tree, they will find a flagpole. Raising its flag will end the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Not too long after the letter K, the Kongs will find an Animal Barrel between two branches with Squawks in it. If they turn into the Animal Buddy with the barrel, they will be able to easily fly to the top of the tree on the left. At the highest reachable point in that tree, they will find a pathway to the neighboring tree. A green Buzz will be in the center of this pathway under the letter O. Squawks should defeat the enemy and head into the gap it was blocking to find a Bonus Barrel. The barrel will take him into a Bonus Level, where he will need to fly to the top of the area and collect fifteen green bananas around a red Buzz. Once enough bananas are collected, a Bonus Coin will appear at the bottom of the area.
  • Shortly after the letter G, the monkeys should find a small gap on the side of the second tree's interior. If they fall into the gap, they will land right into a Bonus Barrel. It will take them into a Bonus Level, where they will have to collect thirty stars in fifteen seconds by traveling through a large tree. Once all the stars are collected, a Bonus Coin will appear outside of the tree.

DK Coin

  • After the Star Barrel, the heroes will encounter a Koin in a small area between the level's two trees. The Koin will have the DK Coin, but will not give it up without a fight. To make things worse, the Steel Keg to beat it is not around. So, the apes will need to blast away the wall to the right with a nearby TNT Barrel to find the Steel Keg on a small platform. They will then have to fall downwards into a lower area with the keg and climb back up to the area with the Koin. With the barrel still in their hand, the apes should stand on the Koin's shield, causing him to put his attention on the Kongs. With the Kremling distracted, they should throw their barrel at the nearest wall to make it bounce back at them. Soon, it will hit into the Koin, defeating him. This will give the Kongs the DK Coin.

Warp Barrel

  • In the tree to the right, at the very bottom, Kiddy should throw Dixie up just as they enter, where she willl land in a Warp Barrel.
