Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DS
★ doors appear mainly in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. There are also bigger variants called Big Star Doors. There are eight ★ doors to open (nine in the DS version), each requiring a different number of Power Stars to open:
- Zero Stars
- Bob-omb Battlefield – main floor
- Hazy Maze Cave – basement
- Snowman's Land, Chief Chilly Challenge, and Through the Looking Glass (both latter in DS only) – upper floors
- Tiny-Huge Island – upper floors
- One Star
- Whomp's Fortress – main floor
- The Princess's Secret Slide and Sunshine Isles (DS only) – main floor
- Three Stars
- Jolly Roger Bay – main floor
- Cool, Cool Mountain – main floor
- Eight Stars
- Goomboss Battle (DS only)
Mario Pinball Land
★ doors return in Mario Pinball Land, blocking off areas of the game's stages, but this time open on contact, provided Mario has enough Stars.
