First appearance | Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023) |
The flower coin is a purple collectible item that appears exclusively in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It is a special type of coin native to the Flower Kingdom, and is an alternative to regular coins in a similar fashion to regional coins. Like coins, flower coins can be found throughout courses, and add to their own individual counter when collected. The player can hold up to 999 flower coins.a
If a Wonder Effect is active, all flower coins are replaced by smaller variants, which are each worth one tenth (0.1) of a regular flower coin. If the player has the maximum amount, the flower coins will attempt to avoid the player during the Wonder Effect. They return to their normal size when a Wonder Seed is collected and the Wonder Effect ends.
Flower coins have another variant known as the 10-flower coin which equates to ten normal flower coins, and three of which can be collected once on each level. If the same coin is collected again during a replay of a level, it will instead grant three flower coins.
Flower coins can be spent in Poplin Shops, allowing the player to purchase 1-Up Mushrooms, badges, Standee Surprises and Wonder Seeds.
