::Yeah, MediaWiki restricts file page names by MIME type. Try to upload a PNG on anything but a PNG file page and it will give an error. The best course of action here is to either upload as a new image ([[Special:Upload]]) or generate red links to where the file you are trying to replace is linked to ([[User talk:Porplemontage#Gallery No Red Link]]). I prefer the red link method. Just remember to tag the other image with {{tem|delete}}. I tend to replace JPEGs and static frame GIFs with PNGs a lot, but preferred not to do a direct conversion (JPEG to PNG or GIF to PNG). --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 21:48, 20 December 2016 (EST)

== Questions for you, as well as a request. ==
Hi.
I noticed with your recent edits that you're well-versed in translating Japanese, at least regarding text.
With that in mind, I have a couple of questions for you:
1. Are you good at translating Japanese audio?
2. Do you have a Wikia account?
There's a bit of a method to my madness so to speak regarding why I am asking you this: I actually need your help regarding translations on at least one of the Wikis. I definitely know, for example, that I'm going to need help translating some Japanese text for some episodes of Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation on Dead or Alive Wiki (I mostly have to rely on Bing Translator to get translations, and... well, you know how internet translators are like). I've got rough translations up, but again, it's not quite up to standard. Aside from that, I also need some help with the radio drama "Peace and Harmony Blues" regarding translations. In particular, [http://www.absolute-video-games.com/album/56/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-blues-of-peace-and-harmony I need help translating the "Snake & Kaz (Entry Gate)" portion and possibly also "Kaz Radio. Outer Ops "Boss Radio"" portion as well], the latter mostly in case there's any behind the scenes stuff in there. Nice Uploads

World 7-4
Different than DeSmuME.

Nice uploads man! Can I ask a favor? Try to optimize your uploads using PNG Monstrous. The link explains why you should do it. It's not required, but it is recommended. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:18, 27 October 2016 (EDT)

I'll be using it as of the next upload. Thanks for linking me it, I've tested the program and it works. ThePokémonGamer (talk) 22:31, 27 October 2016 (EDT)
On that note, if you apply PNG Monstrous or do anything else that can be seen as an edit of the original image, it's a good idea to make a note of that on the image's summary (example). Again, it's not required, but the information can come in handy for future users. Also, noting where the image is obtained, whether you directly screencaped it from the game, grabbed it from another website, or used a YouTube video as a source, is also handy. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:53, 27 October 2016 (EDT)

Got a question. The image to the right, what are you using? I noticed you overwrote that image (originally mine). I know that is acceptable because the clouds aren't grey on real hardware. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:13, 3 December 2016 (EST)

Actually, I also used Desmume. I do believe however that the graphics settings of my version of Desmume when I took the shot is correct to the actual hardware, since I also use the latest version (even though versions that existed in 2011 may also have displayed the version that is correct to the hardware, seeing as a certain YouTube user from 2011 has used Desmume). Also, I have the DS cartridge of the actual game on hardware, so I know what it looks like on the real hardware. ThePokémonGamer (talk) 22:20, 3 December 2016 (EST)
EDIT: It could actually be what the graphics card of the laptop displays, since the graphics card here is Intel running on Windows. But yeah, the version I'm using is also Desmume, though it's more accurate to what displays on the actual DS hardware. ThePokémonGamer (talk) 22:22, 3 December 2016 (EST)
I see. I changed the 3D settings to SoftRasterizer and the clouds are rendering better. Thanks! I thought that DeSmuME was completely faulty. There's a plan B! --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:29, 3 December 2016 (EST)
Yeah, that's correct because my version has the more accurate settings by default. I do know however that the No$gba emulator has a hard time displaying any of the graphics correctly. ThePokémonGamer (talk) 22:42, 3 December 2016 (EST)
Heh, I have upgraded through the years and never bothered to change INI settings. Maybe that is what forced me into the inaccurate OpenGL rather than using SoftRasterizer. Oh well, fixed now. Also noted on my WIP guide. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:13, 3 December 2016 (EST)

JPEG When You Had a PNG

File:Mariocollection console 03 07.jpg, you claim you had a PNG and then converted it to JPEG. PNG Monstrous was a wasted step because JPEG uses a very different method of compression that is lossy. Also, MarioWiki wants PNG wherever possible. No JPEG to PNG but if the image is PNG (or BMP) right from the get-go do we want PNG. Redone: File:SMB 25th W1-1.png --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:59, 20 December 2016 (EST)

The problem was that the original image was .jpg, so I couldn't override it with a PNG. Thanks for doing that however. ThePokémonGamer (talk) 21:45, 20 December 2016 (EST)
Yeah, MediaWiki restricts file page names by MIME type. Try to upload a PNG on anything but a PNG file page and it will give an error. The best course of action here is to either upload as a new image (Special:Upload) or generate red links to where the file you are trying to replace is linked to (User talk:Porplemontage#Gallery No Red Link). I prefer the red link method. Just remember to tag the other image with {{delete}}. I tend to replace JPEGs and static frame GIFs with PNGs a lot, but preferred not to do a direct conversion (JPEG to PNG or GIF to PNG). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:48, 20 December 2016 (EST)
