Proof[edit]

Where's the proof for your information on Larry's page about him being Bowser's favorite? do you have a quote or a picture? FD09

It was in the Primagames strategy guide for Super Mario Advanced 4. Super Mario Bros 3. Here's the quote:
"It was a dark and stormy night. A shape quitely shifts through the rain, ominously flying through the skies. It is made of wood, metal and nastiness! It is a Koopa Airship, piloted by Bowser's favorite: Larry Koopa!" Prima's Official Strategy Guide: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 page 4: Introduction: Chaos in the Mushroom Kingdom! RE:Revenge of the Airship[edit]

Sorry, I don't (can't) have the e-Reader cards. I cropped that picture from: [1]. Again sorry, I can help. :(

RE:New Super Luigi U DLC Club Nintendo question.[edit]

Hi.

Club Nintendo said I needed to do the New Super Luigi U survey by August 1, 2013 if I am to get double the coins. However, did they mean 12:00 AM on August 1 or 11:59 PM on August 1? I'm downloading NSMBU so I can download NSLU afterwards, and its going to take about two hours to download, and its about 11:32 as I'm typing, so I need clarifications. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 23:32, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

(Hi my name is Agentdave7 I have never used the Talk page so hopefully I can help you. I copied your original comment so that you know what I'm answering.)

In the details it said: "August 1, 2013 11:59PM (EST)". Which means: anytime on August 1 until midnight (12:00AM, because then it`s Aug. 2). However, you also have to complete a registration survey before the deadline. The last question of the survey asks if you want to enter the sweepstakes to win the pin.

Hopefully that helps.

Tense[edit]

Nice job on the Steak page, but note that articles need to be primarily written in the present tense, as per the reccomendations of the Manual of Style. --Glowsquid (talk) 16:25, 6 October 2016 (EDT)

Image Category Reminder[edit]

Hello, Weedle McHairybug. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

You forgot again with File:Bowser earliest concept art.jpg. I won't give you a last warning as it has been a while since your warning, just remember the above message in the future. Also, remember to change the file name after downloading. Finally,

Hello, Weedle McHairybug. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter 1) should always be included, even if it's just a couple words. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Any empty parameters should be removed on the aboutfile template. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 13:27, August 20, 2019 (EDT)

Re: No Time to Dawdle e-reader[edit]

it's been saved on my computer for like 8 years lol. it originally came from this url, which is dead now - 2257(Talk) 16:30, 25 May 2017 (EDT)

Man, you're lucky to actually retain something like that for eight whole years. I had a lot of files that got erased due to a worm or something dying, and I still haven't found a way to actually recover them. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 14:55, 29 May 2017 (EDT)

Letter images[edit]

You're uploading enter screencaps of YouTube videos. You should crop the images to show just the letters instead. Or maybe find some sprite-rips. Either way, the images as they are now are unacceptable. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:44, 11 May 2018 (EDT)

M-rated[edit]

Regardless, if the series has any M-Rated games, it counts as being "a series with M-Rated games." It doesn't matter what the mean is. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:28, 22 September 2018 (EDT)

Great Balls of Fire[edit]

Given that multiple sources call it "fire" and no sources seem to say they're just generic bouncy balls or anything, I think it's pretty safe to say that Iggy and Larry's SMW projectiles are fire. Their sprites clearly showing them tucking their heads into their shells before pulling the object out through the head-hole, indicating they're breathing it out. Of course, the technical reason was presumably to avoid all the troubles the changed tiling that giving those sprites a sufficiently-sized open mouth would require, but still, if they were just throwing balls, there'd be no reason to remove the head graphic. Short answer, it's a stylized fireball. As for the "star" in my edit summary, I was referring to how on the fireball's graphic is a white area that's shaped like a star. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:50, 30 November 2018 (EST)

Problem is, Ludwig in the same game was able to breathe fire just fine, without even needing to tuck his head in (not to mention Bowser never did that in any of the games), so it shouldn't be an issue with Iggy or Larry. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 20:08, 30 November 2018 (EST)
They are a completely different coded object. Additionally, his fire was shorter, and most importantly, he only ever shot his straight forwards, and not down a rapidly-changing incline, so it could easily just be shown coming straight out of his mouth in a line. With Iggy and Larry, the incline's change mean's there's no way for them to shoot fire in one rigid direction with any effectiveness (note the fact that the rotateable background layer was already in use for the platforms, and as such couldn't be used for the boss or projectiles), necessitating them to send an object that could go down any incline without looking like it was trailing unrealistically, as not only would each angle of the platform need the same visual angle on the projectile, but keep the same hitbox throughout, necessitating a circular shape. Another fallacy with that comparison is that on the object used for Morton, Roy, and Ludwig, the head's graphic is actually firmly attached to the body, unlike Iggy and Larry; in fact, on the former three, the tiles don't even differentiate until halfway up their muzzles. Basically, you're comparing apples to oranges something massive here. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:37, 30 November 2018 (EST)
Actually, Ludwig's head isn't firmly attached to the body (he needs to tuck his head into his shell before spinning around in it). Weedle McHairybug (talk) 20:39, 30 November 2018 (EST)
The spinning shell is yet another coded object, actually. As far as I've ever seen, he never appears "headless" but still standing. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:42, 30 November 2018 (EST)
Fine point taken, but they could have used something a bit closer to a fireball, like, I don't know, have Iggy and Larry just open their mouths and have them spew giant fireballs similar to Fire Bros in SMB3 (especially when, if Mario can fire fireballs the traditional manner in those boss fights, Iggy and Larry most certainly could fire them Fire Bros style). Weedle McHairybug (talk) 01:16, 1 December 2018 (EST)
Only way for that to fit in their mouths and still have the mouths conform to the tile size specifications would make the fireballs too small to be even remotely a danger. Particularly given most of those fights are spent jumping anyways. And even then, there's still the issue of launching angle not being consistent, and in order to give the impression of sometihng being launched from the mouth, the mouth has to be pointing a specific way; not possible when rigidly bound by tile constraints. Stub articles[edit]

The page(s) you recently created has/have been put up for deletion, has been deleted, or turned into a redirect. This may be because it violated at least one of the policies and/or guidelines of the Super Mario Wiki. There are some things you can do to ensure this doesn't happen again.
  1. Make sure there is no other article about the same subject with a different title, especially for conjectural articles.
  2. Make sure the article has enough information to make it a worthwhile read (i.e. it does more than state the obvious, such as "Luigi's Mansion is a mansion that is owned by Luigi"). Overly short articles are known as stubs and their creation is strongly discouraged; it is better to amass enough information to make a solid article right off the bat instead.
  3. Make sure the article is significant enough in the Super Mario franchise to have its own article.

If the article has only been tagged to be deleted you can still fix or expand it, but an administrator may delete it at any time, so please act quickly. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing!

The three pages you made have been deleted for being stub articles. Please put as much effort into an article as you can upon its creation, which includes more than two sentences, templates, and an image if one is available. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:38, 18 January 2019 (EST)

Sources[edit]

Hello, do you have a source for the content you added in this edit? Thanks! (It needs a source due to it being a specific limited-time event in a game that is not a Mario game) Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 14:23, March 15, 2019 (EDT)

You can use : continue a conversation. Anyways, per MarioWiki:Citations: "For the most part, you don't need to provide a reference for basic information taken directly from the games. This includes level layouts, gameplay mechanics, item and enemy descriptions, characters, the plot of the game, etc. However, if information is more obscure and its validity may be questioned, citing specific text found in the game (i.e. dialogue in an RPG), its manual or some other official guide book will help maintain the wiki's credibility.". In a couple of years this event will be obscure due to it being a limited-time event in a game that frequently has events, so having a source is better for the future. Thanks for the source! Italics[edit]

Please remember to italicize game and publication titles. This is done by placing two apostrophes (not quotation marks) on both sides of the title, outside of any links. For example, ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' becomes Super Mario Bros. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:34, July 25, 2019 (EDT)

Italic title[edit]

You don't need to use {{italic title}} if the page title doesn't have an identifier like "(Luigi's Mansion 3)". Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:12, November 2, 2019 (EDT)

Just another thing, you don't need to put the names in the inboxes manually if they correspond with the article title, since they'll be there automatically. Also, instead of "Floor whatever" it would look better to put the name of the floor (e.g Garden Suites) Mario Sakuraba (talk) 11:12, November 2, 2019 (EDT)

Leaks[edit]

This information is more suited on the corresponding "Pre-release and unused content" pages. We also don't have a template for citations, and you're leaving broken references as a result. Follow the format outlined on MarioWiki:Citations instead.

Also, please don't give the leak an unofficial name like the "infamous 2020 Nintendo Data Leaks", just describe it in general and neutral terms. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:31, April 22, 2021 (EDT)

References[edit]

Please read over MarioWiki:References before adding further content, as I've had to revert multiple of your edits of this type already. Just passing resemblances to something from another game are not references; it would have to be intentional to be a reference (hence "referring" to something), so please avoid adding such "references" unless they are obviously intentional or confirmed to be. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:48, October 23, 2021 (EDT)

Does this count as intentional? I know Castlevania Wiki certainly found it similar enough (and not just in passing either) to specifically note it in the Sand Worm's trivia section. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 22:02, October 23, 2021 (EDT)
