This article is for the species of Kremling called Kutlass from the Donkey Kong series, for the character of the same name from the Donkey Kong country animated series click here.
Kutlass are small, light-green members of the Kremling Krew in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Kutlasses wear pirate hats with a large red feather in them, as well as a black vest. Kutlasses also carry twin swords which are much too big for them; the game's manual humourously says that they ordered them off of an infomercial and that they looked smaller on television. Though the swords are their strengths, capable of counter-attacking jumps, they can also be their weakness. They swing the swords downward with such force that they get stuck in the ground, leaving them open to attack.
In later levels of the game a dark green version of Kutlass is encountered. These Kutlasses are faster to attack and can pull their swords out of the ground faster.
Kutlasses resemble Klanks (to the point of being identical), another type of Kremling. They also have a slight resemblance to Bazukas and Kopters yet more types of Kremlings.
Trivia
- In the Donkey Kong Country animated series a character named Kutlass who was a member of Kaptain Skurvy's crew occasionally appeared. Kutlass did not resemble the game Kutlass at all, resembling King K. Rool more.
