Moon Coins are Star Coins that only appear in World Star of New Super Mario Bros. 2. They have moons imprinted rather than stars probably because it is the star world. These coins, however, can not be used as Star Coins (therefore you cannot use Moon Coins to remove Star Coin Signs) and are only for collecting.
