Template:Space-infobox A Duel Space is a type of space featured in the Mario Party series. It first appeared in Mario Party 5 as a capsule that players could place on a space. Anyone who landed on a space containing the Duel Capsule chose an opponent to duel with, then what wager would be, just like in past Mario Parties. However, players could also chose to put Stars on the line, whether it was wanting an opponent's Star for 40 coins, or a Star for a Star.
In Mario Party 6, Duel Spaces were already placed on the board, and landing on them had the same effect. The Duel Space in Mario Party 7 was different though; gameplay was the same, but instead of picking the stakes, the winner did a little event where they hit a ! Block to stop the roulette. Whatever it showed, the loser had to give away (this is similar to the Round of Miracles). In Mario Party 8, the Duel Space was called the VS. Space, and was only found in Duel Mode. The player that landed on one played a Mini-Game with his/her opponent, with the victor taking coins from the loser via the dart wheel (also, the shape of the space was different with each board, including the tutorial). In Mario Party DS, the Duel Spaces appeared only after the Last 5 Turns event, as replacement of the Friend Spaces.
