Template:DKClevelbox Barrel Shield Bust-Up is the sixth level of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (ninth in the Game Boy Advance remake), and the first (fourth in GBA remake) area of Kremwood Forest.

As the Kongs climb to the top of two tall trees, they'll have to dodge acorns tossed at them by unbeatable Minkeys. Fortunately, there are broken Barrel Shields that the Kongs can take advantage of to dodge the acorns. Many Sneeks and few Buzzes can also be found here, along with a single Nid that provides access to the letter G.

Level Layout

At the start of the level, the Kongs must exit a tree and go east, where they will find a Sneek and a DK Barrel. They can use the aforementioned barrel to hit a Buzz guarding a patch of bananas. They must then go north and grab onto a rope which they must climb on to a new area of the tree. Here they can find the letter K. Going north, they will find a half broken barrel stuck to the rope, which they can use as a shield for the nearby Minkies throwing nuts at them. They must continue north and fight more Sneeks while climbing up branches. They will continue north-east to find more Minkies throwing at a barrel. They will then obtain the letter O. After that, they will encounter more Minkies without a shield to protect them. They must time their movements well to avoid being hit. There will then be five Minkies, this time with two barrels to protect Dixie and Kiddy. They will have to continue into a new tree, where at the bottom is a Bear Coin. They will then have to avoid five Minkies with no barrel shield. A TNT barrel can be used to lead them to the first bonus area. There will then be more Minkeys to avoid and two more Sneeks.

Now halfway through the level, it gets harder. The Kongs first must avoid a Sneek to find a DK Barrel. Then, they will find five Minkeys and a moving barrel shield. They must move with the barrel shield to avoid getting hit. They must continue on with more Minkeys and more Sneeks until they get to the top of the tree and get the letter N. There is a DK barrel nearby. Continuing north, there will be more Minkies, bananas, and a Nid that gets the Kongs the letter G. Once they get the letter, the heroes must get past three sets of five Minkies with a moving barrel shield. These Minkies are all throwing nuts at the same time. They then can find a TNT barrel that leads to a DK barrel. They will find one more Sneek before the level ends.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • About halfway through the level, there will be a TNT barrel that can be thrown against a wall to give access to a bonus area. In this area, the Kongs must avoid ten Minkies, with no shields, that are rotating on each side of the tree. The Kongs will find a Bonus Coin at the end of this stage.

DK Coin

  • Right after the letter N, Kiddy must throw Dixie upwards to a area with a Steel Keg. The Kongs must take the keg, exit the tree, and then throw the keg, which will bounce down and hit the distracted Koin nearby. This will defeat him, thus giving the Kongs the DK Coin.
