Variant of | Semisolid Platform Tree |
Hip Trees[1][2] are Semisolid Platforms that occur only in the savanna-themed course Bulrush Coming Through! They are broad-canopied trees similar to umbrella thorn acacias that shift once ground-pounded. There are identical looking acacia platforms in Bulrush Coming Though! and other savanna-themed courses, but the true Hip Trees buckle slightly when stood on by a player character. There are only two in the entire game.
The first Hip Tree is the broadest of the two and grows out of a pit. It can be ground-pounded twice, which shifts it downward. The second ground-pound makes it flat with the surrounding ground. Positioning the tree here allows a nearby Bulrush to run across it and destroy the hard blocks to the left, clearing a path to the course's first 10-flower coin. The second Hip Tree occurs near the Checkpoint Flag and has a Talking Flower on its canopy. Ground-pounding it sends skyward, bring the player character to a Coin Heaven. Smogrins and the course's second 10-flower coin occur here.
