Quartet-cannons[1] (or cannon quartets)[2] are quadruple-barreled cannons which fire cannonballs in two directions at a time, then rotate at a 45° angle before firing again.
In Super Mario Bros. 3, they appear in the World 1-Airship and World 5-Airship levels.
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, one quartet-cannon is a large rotating cannon pipe[3] that fires giant cannonballs out of three cannons, with one cannon actually being a pipe that does not fire and which characters must enter.
