Template:Species-infobox Snow Spikes are a deprived species of Spikes with a cyan body, snow goggles, snow boots, an orange hat, and orange gloves. Snow Spikes have the ability to create a snowball from their mouths and throw it.
History
New Super Mario Bros.
Snow Spikes first appeared in New Super Mario Bros., although they only appear in World 5-1. The Snow Spikes attack as normal Spikes do, except they pull out snowballs from their mouth instead of spiked balls. Unlike Spikes' spiked balls, these snowballs are affected by gravity, landing on the ground, rolling, and progressively getting larger as they roll until they hit a wall or fall down a pit. While rolling, the snowball grows into a snow boulder as it rolls, bowling through anyone in its path, other enemies included (though this does not give points or extra lives).

Snow Spikes make their Paper Mario debut in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. They look exactly like they did in New Super Mario Bros. They are only found in the first two levels of World 4. In the overworld, Snow Spikes toss snowballs at Mario when they see him; being caught in one results in Mario taking damage as soon as he hits a wall, though they can be destroyed by using the Hammer.
In battle, Snow Spikes can either jump on Mario or hurl a snowball at him. The Shiny Goombas are also on top of snowballs from Snow Spikes outside battle. If Mario jumps on a Snow Spike while holding a snowball in battle, the Snow Spike is damaged unlike a Spiked Ball from a Spike. They are invincible to ice-based attacks, but take double damage when heat or fire attacks are used. Occasionally, instead of throwing the snowball, the Snow Spike Ground Pounds Mario. This attack can be blocked by simply wearing any version of the Spike Helmet sticker. Sometimes, the Snow Spike can roll the snowball on the ground. If Mario is caught in this snowball's attack, he is dragged out of battle and takes damage after hitting a wall. This attack cannot be blocked at all. Snow Spikes are usually fought in groups of two to 3. After battle, a Snow Spike may drop a Snowball Sticker.
Super Mario Maker 2
Although no Snow Spikes appear in Super Mario Maker 2, Spikes in snow-themed levels throw snowballs in a similar manner to them.[1] Unlike Snow Spikes, the snowballs produced by Spikes don't enlarge while rolling along the ground in the Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. styles.
