Spinies are porcupine enemies found in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are invulnerable to rear attacks or a stomp because of their pointy quills, but a frontal attack (including teaming up and throwing Diddy or Dixie at them) will quickly dispose of them. Occasionally, they are seen with a Klampon in front, "bodyguarding" them, as Klampons are kind of the opposite of Spiny (invulnerable to front attacks, but vulnerable from top). Even though they are immune to the Kongs' jump attacks, Rambi and Rattly can jump off of Spinies harmlessly.

Spinies also appear in Donkey Kong Land 2. Their behavior in this game is identical to Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Spinies have brown fur and pointed black and white quills. This protects them from both rear and jumping attacks. If Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong attempt either type of attack, they get injured. The Kongs can defeat a Spiny by rolling into it, using Team-up, throwing an object at it, or by jumping on it with either Rambi or Rattly. Spinies are porcupine enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2.

A Klampon sometimes accompanies a Spiny, such as in Castle Crush. Klampons are the opposite of Spiny in that they cannot be defeated from the front but can from the back.

A similar enemy, known as Bristles, appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.
